I have a question. -
01-17-2008, 02:44 PM
First off, I should just say, I work in the grocery business. I have very little faith in humanity. That said, I'm new to here; and probably won't be around too much? Just a thought.
I'm not on very friendly terms with God. I was hoping you could answer some questions to help me get to know Him more? I hope you can. I hope you can at least be adults about this and not ban me for insurrection or something along those lines.
I read the Halo thread. You guys kind of sound like kids there. So, because Halo III doesn't have enough Christian symbolism, it's evil? I don't cuss at my teacher when she doesn't call on me enough to answer questions. And I'm probably half the age of some of you.
And I read the thread about child bombers. And again, you kind of sound like kids again. Are you really considering resorting to the enemy's form of attack? When I get shoved around, I don't shove back. I try to be the better person.
And then, I read an older thread, about high schools. And how they were abominations? The poster mentioned something about everyone going to private schools? From personal experience, I've gotten picked on a lot less in public school. [I was in a private Christian school from Pre.K. - 8th grade and since then public schools]. And being in a private school didn't stop things like sex and drugs.
But this question is two-fold. Where do you guys come off demanding everyone go to public school when barely anyone can afford it? I think the education in private 'is' superior. But private schools charge an absurd amount of money in tuition. My parents could barely afford to send me to begin with.
Anyways. I hope you can be adults and have a conversation instead of banning me and pretending to be God when you change my account to 'Banned to Aeternal Damnation'.

I appreciate your tone and clarity.
But, actually we support homeschooling. Anybody with a home can afford to do it.
Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was hoping to get.
By chance, do you have another opinion on the other two subjects? Or should I wait for someone else to come by?

I haven't even visited the Halo thread. That's not an area I know anything about.

Jeb posted that to stir up discussion, not as a serious proposal. When he asked the question, why shouldn't we, it was not rhetorical -- he was wanting us to give him the reasons why not, so that we could show that our faith is superior to the false Muslim faith.
Friend, the only people who "sound like kids" on that thread are the outsiders demonstrating that they aren't nearly as intelligent as they think they are.

Again, the only people who "sound like kids" there are the outsiders who showed up only to troll and cause trouble.
You clearly didn't read the whole thread. Halo III is a Jihadist training simulator, and that's why it's evil.
I hope this clears up any confusion.

We only ban racists and other persons who are mocking us and mocking the Lord. We don't ban people because they disagree with us or don't know much about the Bible. We educate them.

Then truly you have heard the ministry of Christ:
...I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. Matthew 5:39
Of course, this does not mean that we Christians cannot use our handguns to defend ourselves from the Muslims and heathens and idolaters and muggers and rapists. Jesus also said:
...he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Luke 22:36

That doesn't sound like a Christian school to me at all. Here in Freehold, Iowa, we don't tolerate things like sex and drugs in our schools, except sex for the high school girls, since most of them are married.

The important thing is to stay away from schools that teach anti-Christian doctrines like sexual promiscuity, evolution, and the kinetic theory of gasses.

So in other words you are too busy coming up with virtual "women" in Mass Effect to watch them fornicate with space aliens have time for the Lord? Shame on you friend, Jesus died for your sins!
BTW Did you just describe yourself as a gamer and then tell us to get a life? You do realize that when I shook Sister VictoryOS hand at church last Sunday I've been closer to a real woman than you've been in years?

While I'll admit, I don't quite agree with the method, the execution, or the result of proving one thing more superior than another; you did clear up my thoughts about that thread.
As for the Halo thread; I'm sorry but you're going to have to point this out to me. I'll admit, I haven't read all 17 pages [amongst my job and my studies, my free time is rather divided] but I read the first and last three pages and it seems to me that the summation of the thread is this.
There isn't a Christian symbol to choose from other than the plus sign which was mentioned as a pathetic excuse for a cross, but there was a crescent moon amongst other things. And as a result, it was deemed an evil game.
Everything else seemed to just be flame wars.

I was raised on the bible. I've read through the whole book many times as a child. The best way to describe my current religious status is that I've had a falling out with God over a personal matter that I don't want to mention at the time.
I find it odd how you and the poster before you had two almost completely opposite responses to the quip I made about child bombers. Which one is it?
As for my school... there's only so much you can do to watch your kids. Being in the school 9 years, I can promise you from personal experience that the kids in Iowa are probably similar. I don't mean it as an insult; simply, just, as an informative fact.

Another question. This time, it's geared more to a sort of dogmatic tradition I've seen ever increasingly voiced nearly unanimously across all religions.
Why do you treat homosexuals with such hostile? I mean, quite frankly, I don't see how you could expect anyone to do something if all you do is threaten them all day long. It seems to me that if you stopped protesting with signs like, 'Fags burn in hell,' and took some time out to meet these people and get to know them and befriend them, using it as a basis to invite them to church, that you'd get infinitely more people.
You might suggest that homosexuality is contagious though? My only thought about that is that you shouldn't be afraid of 'catching' it if you feel strong in your faith.
Thoughts?

You might be interested in this sermon of mine.
I've met several homosexual people and they were all friendly, hard-working, tax-paying Americans. Personally, I don't have anything against them. If I hadn't read the Bible, I probably wouldn't have a clue that there was anything wrong with it. Homosexuality isn't for me, but who am I to decide how others should live their lives?
However, I HAVE read the Bible, and I know how God feels about homosexuality. For whatever reason, God HATES homosexuality. He calls it an abomination. I don't understand God's reasons, but I don't need to understand them. All I need to do is obey His commandments.
I don't treat homosexuals with hostility. If I hated homosexuals, I would keep my mouth shut, leave them alone, and let them be damned to Hell.
I want them to give up their sinful lifestyles and become saved. God forgives sin, but only if we repent and turn away from our sins. Sometimes we have to use harsh language to wake up folks who are complacent.
Pastor Billy-Reuben
