The nuke was a gift from God.

The japs just wouldn't give up so the American's used the gift from the Almighty to make them stop the fighting, even when the Jap Emperor Hirohito was given assurances that the terms of Surrender meant he could keep his title, he still refused. Proving to Americans that he was the Anti-Christ and deserved the full power of the almighty to descend upon him and his armies.
