I don't get it. I just don't get it. It was
revealed today that the UK government paid close to $3,000,000 to have the Pope come visit their dentally-challenged country. They did point out something interesting, however:
Quote:
A [Department for International Development] spokesman said the department was one of several which part-funded the Pope's visit. He added: "Our contribution recognised the Catholic Church's role as a major provider of health and education services in developing countries.
|
I couldn't figure out if the "developing country" they were talking about was the UK, the Vatican or Africa. Then I read this:
Quote:
"The committee acknowledges that we are right to focus on conflict-ridden countries, home to some of the world's poorest people."
|
So I knew it was the UK. Regardless, the Catholic blind squirrels did find the proverbial nut when they pronounced that condoms cause the GAIDS, so I guess that is something.
Tryign to cover up their support of the papist regime, the government tried to backpedal:
Quote:
Labour said the Foreign Office should return the money to the Department for International Development. The government "shouldn't be siphoning off Dfid funds to subsidise Foreign Office expenditure on state visits", said Harriet Harman, the party's deputy leader and international development spokeswoman. "Dfid money should be to tackle poverty and global inequality, not to support Foreign Office diplomacy."
|
Translation: "Our people's hard earned dollars that are taxed to 100% to fund our UK death panels should be spent feeding our pompous upper-class some tea and crumpets and not funding some old papist catlicker to come here and tells us that God hates us."
I guess that's a good thing? It is kind of confusing. I don't know... this whole thing makes me want to do what I normally do: Close the door, open the Bible, and wait for the end of times.
