This is your introductory post, so welcome to the forum - and I'll just respond to the quoted section [above].

Being raised catholic is a real disadvantage, rather like being raised muslim I suppose. Both are idolatrous approximately on a par with the hindoo who's had more time to invent idols so not quite that extreme. In addition, as you're already aware, priests are not fit for the ministry on any level but in particular because they do not marry.

God is clear. The Bible tells us that ministers must be married and also that we must not make idols (regardless of what we do with them after the manufacturing stage).

I would imagine that in order to become a priest it's necessary to read The Bible. Perhaps learning the languages it was written in is not compulsory—I'd expect bishops and especially cardinals to have some knowledge however—but the point I'm trying to make for you is that a priest should have read The Bible.

If you're happy with that, I'll post just two passages one each from The Old and New Testaments to illustrate what I've just written. Catholics use a different translation of The Bible which I'll post first labelled Douay-Rheims so that you can see what a priest really must have read.

from the 10 Commandments:

Deuteronomy 5:8 Douay-Rheims
Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any things, that are in heaven above, or that are in the earth beneath, or that abide in the waters under the earth.

There are other verses about bowing down before images or praying to them. This verse is about making them. Quite simple and all priests must certainly have read The Ten Commandments, wouldn't you agree?

from the New Testament:

I Timothy 3:2 Douay-Rheims
It behoveth therefore a bishop to be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, of good behaviour, chaste, given to hospitality, a teacher..

The husband of one wife. Quite simple, easy to understand. I would expect any clergyman to have read that. If you click the hyperlink you will see the whole chapter BUT you will also see something else. Some additional text inserted to explain that bishops don't really have to have one wife or two wives or any wives at all.

That is not what The Bible teaches. That is playing with words to make up a different meaning. It is a distortion. In the passage about making images (carved, engraved, wood, stone, cast metal, all are prohibited throughout The Bible) the same principle is applied to allow the manufacture of idols for the catholic hierarchy to sell.

Those are two very simple examples of how distorted the catholic priesthood has become. If you were brought up a catholic, that is the twisted thinking behind what you were taught. Having been taught to think in a twisted way is no good for anyone and the authority of your ex-church probably lingers. By reading what The Bible actually says and comparing it with what the catholic church presented to you I hope that the unreliability of those who taught you is made clear. At best they deceived you, and they must have known what The Bible really said.

Now of course no-one has to believe The Bible. Atheists don't for instance, muslims don't (they say it is corrupt). Vikings had something completely different and resisted Christianity for centuries.

AND NONE OF THEM CLAIM TO FOLLOW THE BIBLE.

Catholic priests DO claim to follow The Bible (as well as some other stuff) BUT THEY DON'T. Perhaps you are angry with yourself for allowing yourself to be deceived?
