I agree that no one is supposed to add to the gospel as it was originally taught. However, if one was to interpret said scriptures to mean that no further revelation nor scriptures could ever come to pass, then wouldn't the scripture from the old testament mean that the new testament is void since no more prophets could write holy scripture? Further, you do realize that the bible was not compiled at the time these scriptures were being written and thus they do not refer to adding or subtracting from the "Bible" since the Bible as a book did not yet exist. Finally, what of the many scriptural books that are mentioned in the Bible itself - that are not contained in the Bible - are they now void since a group of men hundreds of years later didn't add them into the compilation of the Bible?
This is a key and distinguishing difference between my faith and others. We believe in continued revelation. We believe that God is the same yesterday, today and forever and once again uses a prophet to guide us, His children. Amos 3:7.
The Book of Mormon does not add to the gospel principles, it simply is a companion - another testament of Jesus Christ that teaches the same things. If you take a look at an actual Book of Mormon, you'll notice the footnotes at the bottom of each page with many, many, references to the Bible on every page.
Anything we believe that is not commonly practiced now, is not an addition, but rather a restoration of what was originally taught.
What if what I was saying was true? What if God once again speaks to us through living prophets just as he did for thousands of years in the Bible? What if God still lives and speaks? What would be more important to find out? I promise that anyone can know what I know to be true, just go to mormon.org to find out more - and then pray about it with real intent. Then act on it.
Sorry for ending the conversation here, but I've gotta run. I'll see if I can log on again later if anyone has any more questions.
Thank you all for your civility. I hope we understand each other better now
|
Okay, so the Bible and the book of mo ron teach the same thing. Then obviously the book of mo ron was not revealed by God. After all, why would God repeat Himself, if He had already made Himself clear? He is not some jabbering imbecile who speaks compulsively.
Next you say that, while the Bible forbids additions, the very nature of writing necessitates additions. Again, it sounds like you're saying God is an idiot. Why would God forbid adding to scripture, if that was what He wanted?

True Christianity™ is the only true religion that adheres to God's Holy Word without error.
Your cult deserves nothing but scorn and ridicule.

I'm sorry, I'm confused. Does that mean you haven't prayed to Jesus to reveal Himself to you as He really is? You just trust your own feelings to be right?

Apparently Nephi doesn't agree with you:
And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.

Why do you come here to persecute us by calling us members of the church of the devil?

I then felt such a calming feeling and the Holy Ghost testified to my heart, with undeniable force, the that it was true.

Cody, I have a question for you.
Islamists have that same feeling. So do Wiccans. Also, Jews and Hindus.
What makes you think your "feeling" is right, but theirs is wrong? Your only reason given for believing in the tales in the Book of Mormon is this "feeling" that everyone who has subscribed to any religion in the history of the world, each of which claims it is correct and all others are false, has felt.
Without relying upon the objective reality of the Holy Bible, all you've got is a "feeling". That's the same "feeling" many what we call "false Christians" have, when they decide that God couldn't possibly mean THEM when He says adulterers, homosexuals, idolators, etc. will not enter Heaven. They actually decide that the Bible must be "wrong", because their "feeling" tells them otherwise.
The "god" they worship just happens to agree with them on every matter. Why? Because it's a "god" they created for themselves, much like the one Joseph Smith created for himself. You know, the one that says Negroes are "dirty" and it shows in their skin color, but who changes his mind when such a position becomes unpopular in the 1970s.

To be perfectly honest I'm quite shocked by your unbelievable arrogance that you claim to know the mind of God from such ridiculously fabricated evidence.
Are you incapable of seeing that some convicted con merchant coming up with palpably constructed nonsense about the US being where Biblical events happened is just a scam?
All the various revisions and tweakings over the years because people started to see the scam for what it really is - can you not see?
There's a world of difference between the Holy Bible and stuff made up by men to further their own interests by getting a community to behave and think just like they do and to hold them in reverence so they don't have to do any actual work.
Shame on you!

Re: Why Mormons are NOT Christians -
06-23-2012, 12:52 AM
Not only are they not Christian, they want to rule over Christians and keep them as slaves.
The EVIDENCE is OVERWHELMING!!
Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 119).
Joseph Smith: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from Pearl of Great Price 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.270).
Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" (Journal of Discourses 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" (Journal of Discourses 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" (Journal of Discourses 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" (Journal of Discourses 10:230).
Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (The Seer, p. 255).
Orson Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (Journal of Discourses
, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (Journal of Discourses , 18:172).
President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses , vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (Journal of Discourses , 10:127).
James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (A Study of the Articles of Faith, p.182).
President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (Doctrines of Salvation, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p.282).
More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (Doctrines of Salvation, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (Mormon Doctrine, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (Mormon Doctrine, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.316).
President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).
President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (Journal of Discourses , vol. 2, p.196).
Ecclesiastes 4:5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.

I could never worship the Mormon version of "God," even if I believe that their view of "God" were correct--which, of course, it isn't, since everyone knows that Mormonism is a made-up religion. The Mormon "God" is violent, racist, anti-Semitic, and spouted scientific notions that are plain incorrect. I don't have time to detail all of their "God's" cruelties and inconsistencies and other mistakes, but you can see them listed here.
How anyone can read the Book of Mormon and instantly see that it is filled with lies is just beyond me.

Now the followers of Jo Smith, his countless wives and serial polygamist Bring'em Young have returned to their roots!
No surprise as Utah is owned and ruled by these nutters and the very reason Church and State should be separated! (Vatican excluded of course)
Having seen quite a few Mormon girls I cannot fathom why anybody would marry one let alone a few dozen.

You are just upset mormons like to have multiple young girls and not boys. Otherwise you'd be all over them.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Well now the crazy Mormoon cult is trying to explain away their ridiculous "magic underwears" to the rest of the world. Instead of just admitting that they were designed by satan, the cult leaders have another explaination.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church is addressing the mystery that has long surrounded undergarments worn by its faithful with a new video explaining the practice in-depth while admonishing ridicule from outsiders about what it considers a symbol of Latter-day Saints' devotion to God.
The four-minute video on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' website compares the white, two-piece cotton "temple garments" to holy vestments worn in other religious faiths such as a Catholic nun's habit or a Muslim skullcap.
The footage is part of a recent effort by the Salt Lake City-based religion to explain, expand or clarify on some of the faith's more sensitive beliefs. Articles posted on the church's website in the past two years have addressed the faith's past ban on black men in the lay clergy; its early history of polygamy; and the misconception that members are taught they'll get their own planet in the afterlife.
The latest video dispels the notion that Latter-day Saints believe temple garments have special protective powers, a stereotype perpetuated on the Internet and in popular culture by those who refer to the sacred clothing as "magical Mormon underwear."

Comparing your "magical underwears" to the dresses "Father" Mo wears is hardly going to win over any True Christians™.

Your cheap and puerile attacks aside, it is hilarious that the cult of Bring'em Young, (featuring a guy named Mor on and a leader who was defenestrated and shot by his own cult members) would dare to try and hoodwink their own dupes with yet another explanation of their magic underwear.
The literature of the Latter Day Aints is rife with stories about how their Joseph Smith Jockeys have saved countless lives in everything from car accidents and airplane crashes to climbing disasters.
These overpriced frocks not only lack in style ( Nobody buys clothing designs from Utah or Iowa... Italy being the capital of undeniable couture of course) but they make their sad punters wear these ill-fitting sack-cloths everywhere including visits to tanning beds... which are big business in Utah.
However, if I was a Baptwit from Dimbulbville U.S.A. I would be happy to have this bunch of nutters around if only to make Landovarians look less crazy by comparison.
Bless you, my vaticidical vaurien,
Father Mo
