Judge REWARDS woman for driving drunk! -
07-04-2012, 04:47 AM
Woman sentenced to read the Book of Job for drunk driving
Quote:
A woman in Pennsylvania has been ordered to read the Old Testament as part of her sentence for crashing into a car and seriously injuring two people while she was drunk, according to The Herald.
Circuit Court Judge Michael Nettles sentenced Cassandra Belle Tolley to eight years in jail followed by five years of probation and substance abuse counseling. She is also required to read the Book of Job and write a summary...
|
The judge himself must be drinking heavily if he thinks reading Job is anything like a punishment! Quite frankly, I have a hard time imagining anything more pleasurable than curling up with a nice single malt whiskey and reading Job.
Well, maybe reading 1 Chronicles and 2 Chronicles back-to-back, in one sitting. Yeah, I'd say that for me, Chronicles is even more enjoyable than Job.
And, of course, just about any account from the New Testament of Jesus' teaching is at the top of my pleasure list.
So yes, reading Job would be my third favorite way of treating myself to something special when I'm feeling really indulgent. I don't know what the heck this liberal judge is thinking. If he wants this woman to suffer, he should make her read Maya Angelou or something.
What's your favorite Bible book or verse to read when you just feel like you deserve something rewarding?

The only problem I've got is that she has to write a summary. Isn't the Bible (KJV1611) perfect as it is, why summarize, you'll only miss essential information. I'd say that she has to recite it from memory. Only thing is that the reward increases, who (with a sane mind) wouldn't want to be able to do that.
Proverbs would be my book of choice.
II Kings 2:23-24: 23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Leviticus for me, hands down.
If I did not know what to not do and not to not do I would probably be out getting to all sorts, I expect.
Leviticus gives me such a sense of absolute morality that you just can't get from societal norms and consensus values derived from a common set of shared beliefs and ideas.
That is would be way too arbitrary from my liking, you know?
YIC
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

It is only logical to force people to read the Bible, since we have the Freedom of Religion. Activist liberal judges sentence people to undergo anal abominations all of the time. Why shouldn't Christian judges be able to force THEIR religion on convicts as well? It's only fair.

That's exactly what I was thinking. As far as I know, the judge didn't even specify which version of the Bible she would have to read Job from. For all we know, this little girl's going to be authoring the Drunk Digest condensed version of the NIV's version of Job.
