I'm going to adress some of your questions, only some. The pastors can come and answer everything. I'm just a humble servant of God.
Speaking of who I am, why don't you tell us a little about you? there is a forum for this, and it is expected taht someone entering this forum will go there and present himself. Please do. Otherwise you are being just rude.

You single out verses and apply them out of context to suit your personal agendas and bolster your arguments as we see all too often on Christian based forums. Love for one another is nowhere to be found in your hearts and that is obvious based on your words. You can share your perspective without the proverbial stoning of one another out of hatred. Love takes precedence even over faith and that makes it the most important message of the bible.
Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied, "Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself."
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: Faith hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
|
Yes, we do love our neighbors. We have adressed who are our neighbors here: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showthread.php?t=71358
And of course, of faith hope and love, love is the greatest.
But God also command us to hate. There are several passages of the Bible about hate, the one I like the most is this:
Romans 9:13 “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”
I love the simplicity in which God tell us to hate someone, because he hates him.
So, in the end, we love the people God tell us to love, and hate the people who God tell us to hate. Simple as that.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

Amen! Exactly as God commands:
Deuteronomy 7:26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Quote:
1) Is there not an entire book of the bible titled "NUMBERS"? Words have a broad application depending on one's definition. The bible is chock full of symbolism REGARDING NUMBERS. The bible starts out using numbers in Genesis, i.e. ... 7 days of creation. God made the earth that has 7 oceans, 7 continents, and the number 7 and it's derivatives are used 562 times in the bible. The number 40 is used over 200 times in the bible. The number 12 ... Jesus had 12 disciples, 12 tribes of Israel. In revelations 12:1 the 24 elders and 144,000 are both multiples of 12. The new Jerusalem has 12 foundations, 12 gates, 12 thousand furlongs, a tree with 12 kinds of fruit 12 times a year eaten by 12 x 12000 or the 144,000. Books of the bible are numbered as are the chapters and verses. Every statement in the bible numbered. Additionally, Jesus incorporated numbers into some of his parables as they relate to the future. In accordance with your definition of "numerology" Jesus stands guilty of using numerology and telling all of us who read them to as well as his parables relate to the future and involve numbers. The number 40 is used over 200 times in the bible, the number 9 is often found in scripture as is the number 1. The very principle of the New Testament is based on the Trinity (the number 3).

Are you aware that the words "numbers" and "numerology" have very distinct meanings?
Quote:
I cannot find anything specific in the scriptures that blatantly states that numerology is a sin.
|
It's divination. God hates it:
Deuteronomy 18:10-12
10 There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things [are] an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Quote:
2) That being said, I am appalled by the hate that every single post here displays towards fellow brethren in Christ.

You say hate, I say tough love.
Proverbs 27:5 - Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.
1 Timothy 5:20 - Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
Titus 2:15 - These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

That's not what God says, dear.

That's precious, accusing us of not following the Holy Bible faithfully enough! Sunshine, we follow it 100%. Totally. Completely. All of it.

Yes- but remember, God's love is conditional love:
John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Quote:
You are so certain you have it ALL figured out with your limited and rigid perspectives that you seem unwilling to glean any new insight regarding the bible which is full of mystery.
|
Are you suggesting that God gave humans such a complicated and mysterious Manual of Life that most people cannot understand it?
Why do you believe in such a cruel and hateful God?
[quot]We are expressly told in the bible not to take the words literally and if we do it will lead to spiritual death. [/quote]
Wrong.
2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
Quote:
I have been struggling so hard to understand the various messages conveyed in the bible and because of the complexities therein I am certain I will not reach a complete understanding of the same in this short lifetime, however, I am content with remaining a student anxious to learn and listen to all opinions in my quest for meaning which is the very thing that brings me to this forum and many like it.
|
You're overthinking it. God hates you for it:
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Quote:
4) Last but not least, I am dumbfounded by the fact that you wrap Jesus in the American flag when clearly American culture is steeped in Egyptian symbolism, including the donations you are happy to collect on behalf of your ministry (pyramids on the back of the dollar bill). The Washington monument is an obelisk. You are worshiping your country simultaneously while wrapping your Lord and Savior in the American flag. Are you suggesting God condones your doing so? Can you please explain what makes you think that?
|
How about this, dear:
Romans 13:1-7
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

We have many new members every day, and 99% of them are, in fact, unsaved trash. Therefore, this is the default label for newcomers. You will remain labeled as "Unsaved Trash" until the Department of Faith finishes a detailed background check. Afterwards it will be decided whether a label change is appropriate.

Indeed! you should read the whole entire Bible, dear, not just one book. It'll change your life! Also, you might consider reading the OP of a thread to which you respond. I you have a 5th grade reading comprehension you shouldn't embarrass yourself again. If not, I would suggest you ask your care-taker to help explain the big words and complicated ideas to you in a simplified manner.
Please note, the Holy Word of God does not change Its message to appease the Special Snowflake Millennial. His promise to offer Salvation to those who meet His condition apply whether or not you personally think you're worth it.
Perhaps you'd like a snack or a little lie-down before you return. You seem awfully grumpy. Then, when you come back, you can tell us all about yourself! We'd love to fellowship with you!
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I see no reason for amazement.
We here at Landover live in Jesus, and you will note that throughout the New Testament, Jesus always liked to think the best of people - so, like Him, we welcome newcomers.
However, the unsaved are those who have been given the chance to be saved by Jesus and have rejected this.
How do we know who the unsaved are? Well, like you, they start trying to tell us that the Word of God that is displayed and expressed and preached throughout Landover is in someway wrong or deficient, when God and we know that it is not.
You can see why this makes the unsaved unwelcome.
You have a choice - Turn or burn... which would you choose? Which would Jesus like you to choose?

Hey, has anyone heard of guardian angel numerology? Angel numerology is a message in the form of numbers that everyone sees dozens of time a day. At least must see. Time on the clock, numbers of cars and houses, numbers on checks, tickets, official documents - the numerology of angels can manifest itself almost everywhere where there are combinations of numbers. Turning to numerology is evil and it makes us forget the true power that God has as our body is the temple of God and not to used to do and think about numerology.
God wants you to repent but you prefer to oppose God knowledge as revealed to you by Christians here. You are making your self an enemy of God which you will heavily regret if you do not repent. Listen to what bible says on numerology
Deuteronomy 18:9-14 says: "When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do so."
John chapter 15 verses 13-14
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Greetings in ' precious Name, and to our assembly, here at . We are happy that you have found your way here. I should mention that we are a "no nonsense" group of believers here. You will find that all of our Scriptural references come from the . We do not use any of those other watered-down versions, and we do not cherry-pick our favorite verses whilst ignoring others.

I'd like to leave you with a Scriptural verse of particular significance, and one that you must consider very seriously, especially considering the river of lava that is coming out of your eye sockets: Romans 6:23 " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." May richly bless you as you find here, at . We look forward to getting to know you, if you can manage to say a few words between the non-stop screaming and screeching that you'll be doing in !
