Once again, the sleeves, the sleeves! Or rather the lack of them.
I very much like the dress that Esther linked to just up the page here and the idea of moving the buttons to the back is a good one. Having them at the front suggests making yourself available, if you know what I mean. (That model is a bit suspect, though. Did her parents mix iron with miry clay, perhaps, as Daniel 2:43 puts it?)
I also like the first dress in Mrs Johnson's post here. Modest and yet becoming and the fabric can be re-used for pillowcases later.

I do believe I am quite in love with that first dress! I was just under the impression it was being made for someone else on these forums?

Nice bottom! However, the lace on the bodice draws undue attention to your chest, the ribbon, to your womb, and the sleeves to your arms. Remember, women are to be modest. "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" 1 Timothy 2:9. Also, dear, modesty is not in our actual dress, but in behavior "but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness." 1 Timothy 2:10. We should avoid drawing attention to ourselves, and even less our bodies, which can lead men to sin. "Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way." Romans 14:13
Since 7 is God's favorite number, I'm attaching 7 modest wedding dresses we tell the ladies at the church to use as an inspiration. Note the long sleeves, good neckline, and modest decorations. The woman wearing the first dress was having a minor issue because the sleeves were falling off a little. My favorites are #2, 3, 4, 7

#7 Is absolutely breath taking! No frills to violate how we ought to dress, no skin showing and still fashionable!

I like the overall "multi-layer" look of #5, I like the general sleeve design of #3... and does #7 have pockets sewn into the dress? Very practical!

My wife, on the happiest day of her life.
Plain and simple.
Proverbs 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
Numbers 10:9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

It was some time ago, but I seem to recall giving her permission to wear these on the understanding that she kept them clean so we could return them the next day.

That's a gorgeous dress, but interesting choice of shoes. Not the most modest, but at least no pearls or braids.

Angelique, will you repent, and have you had sex before marriage? Because if you haven't had sex and will accept Jesus, you may someday have the honor of wearing a dress like that.

Oh dear. Whatever were you thinking, to allow such a thing, or indeed to marry a woman who would wear such hideous shoes. Did she even make it up the aisle in one piece, or are you now pushing her around in a wheelchair?
For a True Christian™ wedding, a simple pair of plain white ballet-style pumps, ideally with a non-slip sole to avoid accidents, are all a young bride needs. Look at these - see how pretty they are, with their delicate lace-effect!
I am increasingly worried by the vulgar garments I am seeing here. Ladies, think of your husband to be! Do you want your wedding guests to be questioning the modesty of his bride?
It is as though 1 Timothy 2:9-10 had never been written.

I absolutely agree with you sister! Here are some other lovely options! Though I find those you posted gorgeous!
The first pair are for a bride who likes dainty details
The 2nd even have cute bows
And the 3rd for a lady who likes a more minimal take on things

You know, in hindsight, and after reading your wise counsel, I do regret agreeing to my young bride's whim for wearing those shoes. I will pray for the Lord's clemency.
However, I'm sure this style was in fashion at the time as I had often noticed them worn by the pretty ladies who meet on the street corners near my house after dark, presumably for womanly conversations they didn't want to bother their husbands with.
Regarding modesty, the shoes were hidden by the dress so none of the guests saw them, although I did let her keep them on all night. The silly thing spent hours admiring them with her feet in the air.
They were back to the shop the next day and it won't be happening again, I can assure you.
Numbers 10:9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

Maybe she is deformed, and very short.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I wore a strapless gown. My mother in law helped me pick it out. It was tasteful.
Proverbs 6
[16] These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
[17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
[18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
[19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

This is a niece of mine, Charlotte, whom was recently married. Although I did not approve of the earrings she wore, this dress she had is quite modest. I do wish, however, that the sleeves had been lined fully and been full length. She did have a veil as well, but it is not pictured here. What do you ladies think?
