If scientists are allowed to believe loads of fossils of so called humans of the past revealing so called evolution of humans exist but are not yet found, why can't we believe evidence of unicorns is out there?

I'm humouring the atheist here, because if God says there are unicorns, there are.

I don't know about any other references to unicorns in the bible, but this one doesn't imply the existence of unicorns at all. In fact I would say it implies the opposite.

That quote is comparing the strength of a unicorn favorably to God, so it would be an insult to him if such a creature existed that could rival his strength.

I think the author was just making a comparison to a well-known mythical creature, though it seems the concept of a unicorn has changed with time.

That is not Christianity. Christianity is loving one another and showing compassion to your fellow humans and through your LOVE and COMPASSION perhaps they will think you are on to something. Anything less than love, understanding, and compassion for all and God will turn his cheek to you.

I'm not saying those are the only requirements, but they are the most important. Jesus did not discriminate or turn people to His word with hatred and "nuh uh! I'm right I'm right you're wronnngggg" type statements.

He exemplified the positive attributes being close to God gave him (can't get much closer than he was!), such as love and compassion for other people. He forgave everyone. IF only we could be so virtuous. A lot of people I don't see even trying here.

Regarding the True Christian malarkey, it's just silly to trademark such a thing. Christianity is nearly 2000 years old at this point, a trademark now is simply superfluous.

The specific point of Landover Baptist is to follow The Bible in its' entirety to the letter and spirit intended. If you feel we are wrong show us in scripture.

Would you please be so kind as to not quote Scripture out of context? And use a real Bible: the KJV 1611 edition.

Please take just 10 minutes to read the entirety of Matthew 5, it will clearly show you all the things He mentions are required, the commands you quoted, but also including plucking out your eye if it offends you, including eternal torture for lustful thoughts, and most importantly: not one jot and not one tittle from older parts of the Bible will be removed.

5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (that's us)

5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (that's us again: you revile us and persecute us)

5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (looks like a pattern, do you see why we welcome to be persecuted?)

And then a tiny bit further:

5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (aha, teaching false Christianity is NOT okay, check)

And then looking a bit further.... this may apply to you:

5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (wait, weren't you complaining about amputation, even though God tells us to do so in the section of the Bible YOU tell us to read?????)

And so on and so on.......

Do you understand that when you pick and choose parts of the Bible, you present a narrative that is corrupted and biased to your opinion?

If that were all, then not only would the Bible be a lot shorter, but also, we could save ourselves through works, which we cannot:

Eph. 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Instead, we are saved by faith:

John 3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This answers the question about the virtuous atheist, by the way.

Of course, those who have true faith rather than false faith will do all that God commands:

Matt. 7:21-23: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Finally, while we love one another, we have enough genuine Christian love to tell people when they are sinning:

Ezek. 3:18-19: When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

1 Tim. 5:20: Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

...and you have taken into consideration that all the above must first be believers, and not just 'believers who cry, "Lord, Lord" but True Christians™?

So even to approach being merciful, pure of heart and a peacemaker, you have to be True Christian™.

Look on it like driving a car, no matter how good you are, if you haven't reached the minimum age, it's not for you.

No no not at all, I'm just always sort of confused which parts of the Bible to put more weight on when it seems to say something different somewhere else. I'll work on it though! There is always room for improvement, I figure, so I'll keep trying to figure it out!
