I'm reading the Timothies just now as it happens. Paul knew more about babblings in vogue at the time than I do and addressed some of them when speaking at Mars Hill.
Acts 17:16, 18-19, 22
He provided Timothy with an example: Hymenaeus and Philetus† who evidently thought The Resurrection had already occurred! There are a number of problems with that. First, consequences follow on from resurrection. John recalls Jesus talking about judgement, His own authority with multiple witnesses provided verifying that what He says is valid.
John 5:31-33, 36-37 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth ... but I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
Yes, we can be that certain that what Jesus explains is true. What did He say about the general resurrection of all people? Would any remain in their graves? Jesus knew about these questions and made sure we understood the true situation however unusual it may sound.
John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

KING TUT. . . . . . .
If Tutankhamen was still in his sarcophagus, the general resurrection described by Christ had not occurred. QED. Claims made with no confirmation in reality are one thing; claims made directly contradicting reality are something else altogether. Babbling describes them rather well. Any more recent examples could be posted here. Now back to reading the Timothies, and Titus.

II Timothy 2:16-18b Shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already
