The Southern Baptist Convention was a leader in both slavery and segregation. During the time of those policies, the United States grew and prospered.

Then came the 1950's and civil rights. Civil rights affected mostly the Northeast of the U. S., the South remained as it always had. There was a little integration but mostly people of different races kept to themselves, as the Bible commanded.

During this period when the South clung to segregation, it prospered. The huge cities like Atlanta and Houston came into being while the liberal Northeast floundered.

Now, the last place you would expect to see integration in full bloom, the Southern Baptist Convention, we have this new President. He is not a white man.

Pen--I'm always amazed at how uninformed lieberals are about the principles of economics. You should read up on the topic before posting something ridiculous.

Let's look at the facts. During the time of slavery, we exported what was known as "King Cotton". Slavery ended and, guess what?? We started importing cotton.

Now, tell me we are better off today than we were back when slavery was legal.

I don't think the south prospered all that much beings it was the north that
wanted slavery in the first place, because they owned most of the
plantations.
In other words, the people with money, owned the southland, and they made
sure to protect their profits.
So the south didn't own that much of their own.
And, since you are talking about the Southern Baptist Convention -- if you
wish to see exclusivity -- just become Southern Baptist, as they are the
only ones going to heaven. If you are not Southern Baptist, you are not
a Christian.
And - they believe that all you have to do is have some man (pastor) dunk
you in a tub of water (so he can see what you look like -- wet) and you go
to heaven.
Sorry - but my God is much bigger than this little denomination.
I do have to admit that many will go to hell because they don't know the
why's wherefores or have any belief that God did something for Them.

NOW believe in slavery? NOW? Christianity isn't some fad, boy. You don't pick and choose the holy idea that is flavour of the month. Slavery has always been a thing endorsed by the Lord.

Tom kinight--Let me guess what grade you got in college Econ 101? "C -" was your grade, almost a "D".

Here's why I know that. The nation prospered when slavery was practiced. Now that it it not, we are in a recession.

In science, this is called cause-and-effect analysis. The economy is a dependant variable, slavery and an independant variable. (I apologize for going technical on you.)

Please cite a reference which demonstrates that Northerners owned the plantations in the South before the Civil War.
