Former 'Educator Of The Year,' Priest Faces Child Porn Charges

LUMBERTON, N.J. -- A teacher once named Lumberton's Educator of the Year is charged with possession of child pornography.

Joseph Macanga, a former priest and current sixth-grade social studies and language arts teacher, was arrested Wednesday.

The FBI seized his computer last fall after an agent found him in an Internet chat room used by pedophiles.

According to the criminal complaint, more than 300 images of child pornography were on the computer and there was evidence that he had accessed nearly 30 chat rooms with names like "baby&toddlerlove."

Investigators did not find any pornographic images on Macanga's school computer, and none of the teachers' students are involved in the investigation, police said.

A woman who answered the phone at his home Thursday declined to comment.

The Lumberton Board of Education said the 55-year-old, who had taught in the district for 10 years, will not return to the classroom.

If he's convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Yeah...that was messed up. The music made me want to stab myself in the eardrum with a Q-tip, and the fact that children were singing about "sacred sperm", was enough to induce bile to pool at the back of my neck. Absolutely sickening. I don't care who made that video, it had pedophile written all over it.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord...not a pitch perfect, melodic, musically correct noise...just joyful.
