The hymn,
“God Moves in a Mysterious Way” was written in 1774 by the British poet William Cowper* and foretold the events of 9/11:
God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
The visions that God brought to Cowper were obviously confusing to Cowper himself, but ask yourself, “How else would anyone “ride upon a storm” other than by hijacked aircraft? We today can see this is the truth. He was predicting 9/11!
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.
This reminds us that everything God does is for the best
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.
This verse is the absolute clearest! “Ye fearful saints” is obviously a reference to True Christians™”
“The clouds ye so much dread” is a double reference -> to the clouds out of which the aircraft flew, and the clouds of dust that engulfed the area around the Twin Towers. However, note how God promises that this destruction shall have a good outcome.
Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.
Here are two verses that explain (if explanation were required) how it is that bad things happen to good people but God is always right because He has a Plan. Thus it is, by saying this, that we can explain absolutely everything that happens as being God’s Will.
Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.
And if you are an abominable atheist, you are going to be wrong about God not being there or about God doing bad things. -> When you are dead God will explain everything. And why should anyone doubt that?
*Cowper knew these things because he suffered personally at the Hands of God, Who three times drove him so mad that he had to be taken off, kicking and screaming, to the local asylum. On one occasion, according to Wikipedia,
Quote:
In 1773, Cowper experienced an attack of insanity, imagining not only that he was eternally condemned to hell, but that God was commanding him to make a sacrifice of his own life.

So here was a man who saw real visions and, having been warned, became a True Christian™.
How, then, is it possible not to see what Cowper saw -> the Truth and Beauty of Our Lord?
