Watch Out, Men! Strong Women Win in the End! -
04-26-2017, 06:49 PM
You may wish to read about this wonderful woman in the book of 1 Samuel, chapter 25.
Abigail was the wife of a wicked and self-centered man named Nabal. David (who had been anointed king, but had not yet taken office) sent servants to kindly ask Nabal to show hospitality to him and his servants. David’s servants had been companions and protectors of Nabal’s shepherds. Nabal’s response was that David was lazy and presumptuous. David, who was traveling with his men after the burial of Samuel, was angered at Nabal’s reply. David prepared his men for a fight.
Abigail heard what transpired between Nabal and the servants of David. She loaded up a feast and went to meet David along the way. She had hoped that her actions would calm David so that he would spare her family from death. David agreed to spare the family for Abigail’s sake.
Nabal, thinking himself to be someone special because he told David to take a hike, threw a big party for himself. He was drunk and unable to protect himself. The next morning Abigail told Nabal that she had taken an offering to David and by doing so turned back the king and his 400 soldiers. Nabal was shocked to learn that his whole household could have been destroyed. So shocked, in fact, that the Bible says his heart died within him and he became as stone. Within 10 days he was dead.
I like to think that if God decides to make me a wife and mother, I will name my daughter Abigail. Or I might just bless her with my own name.
Perhaps I can adopt, like Joan Crawford. I can just hear little Abigail or Naomi Ruth II saying, "Oh, I love you, Mommie Naomi Ruth Dearest!"
The important part of this message is to let your man know you may be subservient to him, but you are STRONG in your own way. If they don't believe it, remind him how Abigail made her husband rock hard and less than 2 weeks later, GONE. Glory to God Almighty!

Naomi, thank you for a refreshing reminder of what it means to be a Biblical Woman. The world needs more "Titus 2" women like us (Titus 2:3-4)! And I agree completely. If the Good LORD wanted women to be spineless and hide in the shadows, He would have made us Mexicans.
I'll continue to keep you in my prayers that the LORD finds a suitable husband for you so you can put all this great energy into managing your own home to glorify him! Just think, you'll get to choose the appliances and color scheme of your home, you'll get to raise the children the way you see fit, and you'll have the opportunity to let him shine as the hostess to parties that honor him and make him look good to the community! How exciting that will be!
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I'm praying for you dear one, that you may have a quiverful of children, adopt heathen children and bring them to Christ and also bear your own so that 1 Timothy 2:15 is fulfilled. You'll be a wonderful mother, with your lovingly and feminine strength as you take your sons in hand and apply the rod (Proverbs 13:24) to them and give them wise and Christian counsel. And yes, dear, I agree Christian women must be strong as we are commanded to be in Joshua 1:9 while also submissive and weaker in a sense, then men, because of 1 Peter 3:7.

I'm not sure I follow, dear. Are you interpreting 1 Peter to mean women should purposefully be weak when they could be strong?

Oh dear, forgive me for being unclear. I meant that women should be strong, and we are, for God ordered us to endure childbirth without the aid of epidurals and such. I just meant that we are still to remember that we are in a sense, subservient to men, and that for me at least, I shouldn't become an uppity feminazi and fail to remember that men are dominant over women and are physically stronger than women (not that we, as women, aren't strong), not the other way around.

Are you quite sure, dear? Is your lawn service man dominant over you? The Jew you might sit next to at the airport? The atheist hippy that looks like Shaggy and smells of patchouli and despair?

There are no strong women. Loud women, yes. But strong? Not so much. And the loud ones are quiet fast after some punishment.

I think that you are wrong because in my home which is Jamaica we have very strong Black women. They are strong because we keep them working all the time. If they rest too much they get too fat and that is not good.

It strikes me that the interpretation given 1 Samuel 25 is fraught with a bit of female fancy here, if not having some influence from feminazi propaganda and those of an "academic" postmodernist deconstructivism "gender" as social construct persuasion.
It's pretty clear that Nabal was a weasel, but the more inquisitive would like to know how Abigail wound up married to this creep in the first place. Where was her father in all this, along with her family, and if this was an "arranged" marriage who did the arranging? Perhaps Abigail was disobedient and rebelled against those having authority over her. We may never know, but it does nonetheless cast some doubts as to how much credit can be given to this somewhat questionable woman - and to the ultimate interpretation of 1 Samuel 25.
We all know that women can be clever and manipulative, and given their own proclivities they prefer "bad boys" and "nice guys finish last". This is never more clear than in Genesis where Eve was the first to disobey God and eat of the forbidden fruit, and why God dispensed disproportionate punishment by giving Adam (men) domain over women. Even other pagan cultures not Saved® by Jesus recognized this, as in the ancient Greek myth of Pandora's Box.
What this story does tell us once again is that God works in mysterious and unforeseen ways, and it confirms the ultimate certainty that His Divine Justice will eventually be dispensed. Nabal may have been made rock hard, but Pandora's Box may have had something to do with it.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

I don't know, Brother Bryan. If Sister Mary Etheldreda agrees with Sister Naomi Ruth Lamb, I am inclined to take it just as if it came from the bowels of Jesus' being.
Proverbs 21:31 KJV 1611:
“The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but safetie is of the Lord.”
Lord, may I serve my equine brothers and sisters just as I do my fellow man. Amen and Amen

It's possible that Abigail was doing more than just looking out for her kith and kin. If she knew that Nabal was beholden to David, then she may have been thinking first and foremost about giving the young servant of God his proper due.
In this, she may have been led by the Spirit of God. If I recall, David chose to take Abigail to wife after Nabal's death. Given that she was hardly a virgin bride, David must have seen some indication of the Lord's favor in her, besides her show of hospitality.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

I am not sure I fit in the description of the Titus woman, since I am far from OLD. However, I am certainly strong and would do everything for David that was asked of me. Or Jonathan, or Ezekiel, or even Joshua.
I have made an adoption application at four different agencies: St. Monica's in Dallas, Mac's E Z Adoptions in Des Moines, The Shalom Chaverim Home for Children in New York, and the White's Institute (which is a temporary residential home for teenagers who are with child).
The investigation process continues. I have listed several of you as character witnesses, so don't be surprised if someone contacts you! I know I can count on my dearest friends to aid me in my quest for motherhood.
My next plan is to seek a willing young man to sire a child via artificial insemination. You would not be spilling seed on the ground, I assure you. Rather, you would be contributing the gift of life to a child who would live an advantaged life. How wonderful that is.
Oh, motherhood is already feeling wonderful. I will be hiring a nanny soon. Applications are welcomed via Private Message! TRUE CHRISTIANS™ ONLY, please.
While my first year of motherhood will be hectic, what with my opening new shops across the world, I want to be sure my little one(s) are schooled in the ways of the Lord, wearing only the most beautiful and appropriate clothing while learning impeccable manners.
Unsaved whores need not apply.
Your dearest and most gracious friend,

Oh, thank you for the edification sister. It is good to be reminded of my place as a white, Christian, God-fearing woman.
On another note, Naomi, let me know how that process towards your child is going and when I should send over a copy of my favorite wooden spoon with Ephesians 6:1 engraved in it -- as a wonderful Christian lady, I'm sure you understand the need for it!

Your role as a strong white Christian woman is as a conduit for strong white Christian men (with police badges) to arrive and solve the problem. It can be as simple as screaming "Don't touch me!" in the mall or a quiet word to security at the airport if someone is making you feel uncomfortable.
