Prayer works! Post your examples here -

Friends in Christ, atheists sometimes try to "prove" that prayer is a waste of time. But Jesus tell us in a number of places that God answers the prayers of believers.
Here is proof:
Matthew 7:7: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you
Matthew 18:19: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven
Matthew 21:22: And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Mark 11:24: Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Luke 11:13: If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
John 14:13-14: And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 16:23: And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Romans 10:12: For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Hebrews 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 10:19: Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
1 John 5:14-15: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him
I thought it would be useful to post some examples of the power of prayer to demonstrate the Grace of Jesus to us, His servants.
For example: My paper boy's mother has cancer. In the mornings, she is sometimes nauseated from the chemo and he has to help her to the toilet, etc. It is a sad situation.
But is also means that he sometimes gets a late start on his morning deliveries.
I thought of him this morning when I woke up. I prayed "Lord Jesus, let the paper be out there today on time because I have an early meeting."
I opened the door and the paper was there! I was able to do the puzzle before I had to leave for work!
Praise Jesus and the power of prayer!
Any other examples out there?
"Come Unto Me. Put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath." (Matthew 19:14, Job 1:11).

Last week I was a bit late for work, due to some intense KJV reading. I made a quick prayer that my new leather-bound KJV would be left unharmed.
Since unfortunately I still haven't found a wife that wants to produce Warriors for Christ with me, I had my mother over to cook me some sausages. But she has a bad leg (not sure which sin caused God to give her that), she tripped and dropped the pan. Straight towards my KJV.
I was just able to kick it away. I believe that it was God who gave me the reaction to kick it away to leave my beloved Bible unstained. Praise Jesus!
I stuffed the sausages in my mouth (which were actually quite good), and was also able to get to work on time. There I called a doctor to pick up my mother. Too bad they don't have True Christian doctors here.
Now I can only hope that hospital bill won't be too big. The doctor said the burnmarks on my mothers face will remain visible, so no bother to worry or pay too much for that.
And I'm happy to have my intact!
II Kings 2:23-24: 23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

I was watching the weather and the weather man(probably secular) said it would rain. I shouted, praise Jesus we need rain. I prayed for it to rain then 4 hours later it DID! How can atheists explain this away???

I was flying back from Vegas early this morning and realized I did not fuel up before take off. Well, my low fuel light came on when I entered Kentucky airspace. Halfway across with two hundred miles to go, so close to Heaven at 30,000', I was praying to God to glide me home.
Mandi, my niece told me the planes bar was empty, Sandi, my other niece was sleep like a baby in the co-pilot seat. It was up to Jesus to hold the G550 in the air for another thirty minutes. Mandi knelled before me and provided immaculate testimony to the power of the Holy Trinity® as I thanked God for His Divine assistance. Praise the Lord, I landed safe!
The plane stalled due to fuel starvation on the runway as I turned on to a taxi way at the Hutchins field.
Proof of Gods unfathomable love for True Christians™. I also found a fifth of Makers Mark in my flight bag!
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

I prayed to God to stop that social worker from sticking her nose in my business. She hasn't been seen in weeks.

I have been praying fervently to God™ there was a way we could turn back the clock and America could just re-vote on Mr. Obama being in the White House, knowing what we all know now.
Lo and behold, suddenly we're all going to get to do JUST THAT next month!!!

One of my first proofs that prayer works was when dear old Aunt Olga got ovarian cancer. The chemo was dreadful. She lost all her hair, and when she was about to die, her daughter got the same cancer. We prayed and prayed. This was so hard on all of us. The debilitating pain was awful.
And so we prayed some more, and soon, Aunt Olga died. But six years later, her daughter was cancer-free!
Praise God Almighty!

I notice a lot of sinners and atheists complaining because God doesn't answer prayers in exact time or the exact way they expect him to. Now, of course God doesn't answer the prayers of unsaved trash and sinners ( John 9:31 Matthew 6:7 ), but they're also wondering why God supposedly doesn't answer the prayers of Christians as well.
Their perception of how God answers prayers isn't right. If you follow God's word, and you pray for something, and it is God's will that you have it, you will get what you pray for 100% of the time. You just have to be patient. Let me give some examples:
Several years ago, I wasn't doing well financially, so I prayed that I would get more money (without being a liberal bum leeching off the government) . A year and a half later, I received a check in the mail for an income tax refund. The prayer worked! I just had to be patient.
When I was a child, I prayed that my annoying neighbors who had obnoxious, noisy teenagers would go away. Five and a half years later my parents decided to move! God answered my prayer! Just not in the way I was expecting.
After my brother got cancer, I prayed that he would survive. He died two days later, but my parents had another son! I liked the new brother better anyway. I did not specify which brother should survive, so the prayer worked! Just not in the way I was expecting . Besides, that other brother probably did something bad if God was mad enough to justly give him cancer.

Praise the Lord! I love threads like these. They remind us that God is indeed up above and looking out for us. With all of the terrible things that happen in the world, it is good for us to fellowship and to point out that we indeed have a Creator who loves us and looks out for us.
My personal testimony is of last November. It was an icy day, and I was driving home one Sunday evening, listening to the Sunday Night Football game. When I pass between two mountain peaks, my radio cuts out, so I always miss a play or two. This particular game was coming up on halftime and one team was driving for a go-ahead field goal. Wouldn't you know it, there was a terrible 4-car pile-up just beyond the pass! Both lanes were shut down as the police & paramedics searched in vain for survivors.
Well right then and there, I closed my eyes and prayed earnestly to God that He would release the traffic, and allow me to proceed to where the radio signal was better. As the seconds ticked by, and I politely beeped the horn, I began to wonder: "Why is God ignoring me?" I began to worry, I began to wonder if perhaps the Lord was telling me to be patient, to wait on Him. But then out of the blue, suddenly the radio began to work again! As the clock ticked 0:00 for halftime, the kicker nailed a 54-yard field goal!
It just goes to show you that while God doesn't always answer our prayers in the way that we think is best, He is faithful to give us what is best for us. I always remember this moment, when I think that things are hopeless; if He could make the radio work in a snowstorm, He can do anything

I prayed I would get an "A" on my first exam in one of my engineering courses this Fall semester. Well guess what?! I got an A! Bam! How's that for empirical evidence, nonbelievers?!

It's more of a testament of how far the liberal colleges have gone to make sure that "everyone" can get an A. It's affirmative action, not any doing on your part.

Often I praise Jesus for answered prayers long before they come. For example, I pray for the future wives of my sons, even thou the LORD has not yet spoken to Mr. Etheldreda about this yet. I praise Jesus for getting over a cold that Satan sends my way, tricking my flesh into believing it is sick For 7-10 days I praise Him, knowing He will be faithful. I praise Jesus for providing windows that open on airplanes, because even if they don't exist YET, Jesus, who lives outside of time, can make it happen. The way I see it, I don't want to waste any time praising Him.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! Re: Prayer works! Post your examples here -

The Lord has answered many prayers for me and my congregation, but I think this one is the most important.
About three years ago, a local atheist challenged me to a debate over the existence of God. We agreed to have the debate at Second Baptist, where my congregation would provide part of the audience; we'd each be allowed to invite others as well.
We put up flyers around town, and ended up with an audience of about 200. It was standing room only in the little strip-mall storefront we were occupying at the time!
Believe you me, I prayed.
I prayed that the Lord would help me say the right things to reach the atheist and his entourage of God-haters.
I prayed that the Lord would help my congregation to close their ears to the atheist's sweet lies of a life without consequences after death.
Most of all, I prayed that none of my flock would have their faith challenged.
The debate was very civilized. The atheist made it pretty easy to destroy his arguments; I'm sure God moved him to say that scientist had dated dinosaur fossils using Carbon-14 dating.
Once I'd explained to him how Carbon-14 dating is supposed to work and its limitations (fossils are mineral, and contain no carbon; and C-14 dating is only "good" for up to about 50,000 years), it was pretty much over. All of his other arguments, about things like evolution or the Flood or how "faith is not a route to knowledge" fell on deaf ears. Nobody even cared when he started yammering about the lack of archaeological evidence of the Exodus!
I gained 9 or 10 new members from that debate, and didn't lose any. They credited me with showing them that they should have faith, because there is just too much scientific "knowledge" for everybody to understand, and science is elitist anyway, so faith is better because anyone can understand that.
Praise the Lord!

It's been some time. I'm assuming God is busy answering the prayers of those who are definitely going to heaven and/or are better than me in every way(ie. True Christians).

The other day I visited a woman who suffered from some severe form of kidney disease. The athiest doctors had told her there was nothing left they could do for her apart from relieving pain. So she had already totally abandoned hope. The wonder happened when I offered her that we could pray to Jesus together After two hours of fervent prayers and bible reading I asked her about her condition and she agreed that she already felt somewhat better. I think this is a miracle because normally these things only get worse and worse.
