I am glad that the Holy Spirit brought you here Jon.
How would you discribe a "staunch Christian". What does that mean for you?

Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Dear friend:
Welcome to God's favorite discussion board. Please go into greater detail about how you were a "staunch Christian since birth."
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Thanks for the warm welcome friends,
I grew up in Pike View, Hart county north of Glasgow in Kentucky. I guess I say staunch meaning that I am dedicated to Christian morals and beliefs. I raised my two sons as I was raised, Republican all the way (I was rather saddened to here Mrs. Palin resigning, I was really hoping she'd run for office after we eject "you know who") attend church every Sunday, prayers at night, follow the commandments....adhering to the good book!!!
I work with computers a lot and I like to think Christianity is like my mental operating system, it commands my day to day operations (sorry, it was the best analyses I could come up with - and you did ask).
Jenni, I see you are from Canada. I don't mean to sound rude but I am not too familiar but have always been told it is a godless country. I am happy to see you here, I hope you spread the good word up there as much as possible.
Jon

I'm a bit nervous about the way you spell your name. John is the more traditional spelling. That is the way it appears in the KJAV 1611 Bible as well. Was it you or your parents that decided to change the spelling away from the way God spelled John in His book?
EDIT:And that infamous, unfunny Jew Jon Stewart spells his name without the 'h' too!

I would agree with you. My parents thought it was fitting I be named after my great grandfather who was in the great war. I have often thought I should have it legally changed....and yes, I can not stand that Jon Stewart character. I will pray for him.
If it means anything, my middle name is Luke.
<<KJAV 1611>>
Ha that took me a minute to figure out, that is short for the King James version of the bible is it not. I keep one at home and in the top drawer of my office.
Also, I was unaware that Jon Stewart (now you are really making me think of changing my name) was a jew? Kind of makes sense now.
Be well friend.

I'm still waiting to hear what you mean by "Christian since birth." Can you show us some Scripture in the Holy Bible that backs up such a notion? Baptists sure don't believe in that doctrine. Mary-worshiping Catholicks do.
What church do you attend at the moment? What's your Pastor's name?
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Wow that is some list you have there Pastor.
I attend the Knox Creek Baptist Church, it's in the same county, Pike View is awfully small. Billy T. Moran (great man, great speaker) is currently our Pastor, has been for five years. Before him (and rest his soul) was Donald Muire.
Yes the since birth thing was a figure of speech, I didn't mean for you fine people to take it so literally. I will make sure I try to be more accurate.
Be well.

That's very good to hear. So, when DID you become a Christian, and what has the meant to you?

Good for you! There is nothing wrong with wanting to be more Godly, even if it is just by name. My first name is Aaron, and though it is Biblical I often get asked if I'm Jewish because of it.
A legal change of spelling would show God that you are serious about your faith I think. I say you should do it!
ps: You didn't realize Jon Stewart was Jewish? He hardly ever shuts up about what a huge Jew he is!

Totally agree! Saul/Paul, Abram/Abraham, Jacob/Israel Simon/Peter -- the Bible does seem to encourage name change for believers who are serious.

Well, for as long as I can remember. What it means to me? Everything. It is my strength when I am weak....and we all have those moments right? Then I think of the big guy in the sky, and imagine he's giving me the thumbs up and that everything is going to be A O K.
