I am Jesus -
03-19-2008, 02:43 PM
I have been asked to play Jesus in an upcoming Easter program. I don't feel right about it. Is it a sin to portray Jesus?
Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Do the Jews come and help Nail you to a cross?
Do you die (temporarily) for our Sins?
Do you get to be resurrected?
If not then I think Jesus may feel you are mocking him.
I'd be careful if I were you.

I think being asked to play Jesus should be an honor. That means that the people that asked you see you as a true man of God. It also means that they think you will give an accurate portrayal of Christ that may win over new souls for Him.
He can't do this play Himself, as he has ascended at the moment. And as children of God, sometimes we are asked or called to help further the kingdom. I don't think Jesus would see you mocking him if you do a good job, and don't perform in a way that would be a sacrilege to His name and what our religion is about.
Willpower rules the world.

Just remember brother eliot;
2 boards + 3 nails = 4 given
Just so long as you don't claim to be the messiah and nobody worships you; you should be fine.

Judges 9:21 And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, for fear of Abimelech his brother.

Woah, are you a triclavianist? Since when?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I hope you ensure that, regardless of the plot or script, all your lines in the play are directly and accurately taken from KJV1611. “…not one jot or tittle,” etc.
Also beware! Theatres are the recruiting grounds of sodomites, who will encourage you to apply female make-up and offer to "help you dress". Further, actresses, I am told, often consort with bishops – keep all of these abominations at arms length.
Walk in, do your stuff and walk out.

I suppose you don't believe that they needed two boards either!
