Re: My brother wants to get a Jesus tattoo, how can I stop him? -

In Genesis (17:11), God says to Moses: "You must cut off the flesh of your foreskin as a sign of the covenant between me and you."
So all who are not circumcised are going to hell because ignoring gods word?
I don't think sooooo!
In Paul's Letter To Galatians (5th chapter) Paul says: "2Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. (Like pastor Ezekiel posted earlier: 2 Peter 1:20: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.) 3Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace."
Jesus came to set us free from the binds of law, He came to offer us salvation, and it is all because of HIS GRACE, not by our actions (Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God")
I think this clearly shows that no matter how "holy" we are, we all are just hypocrites in His eyes unless we confess our sinful nature and ask for His forgiveness.
So is it wrong to tattoo your skin, this is a question between you and God, pray God for wisdom and ask for His spirit to guide you. (Galatians 5:18 "But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.")
So it is through CHRIST how we get to heaven, not by following the LAW.
Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by OBSERVING THE LAW; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
And the last thing I want to say, Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
May His peace be with you, I'll keep you all in my prayers.

When I look at previous posts posted in this topic by admins, I wonder how you can say debating is forbidden in here. But anyway, if my previous post didn't show how much I love Jesus, I guess you got it all wrong. I'm not here to debate or to tell my own opinion about things, I justed wanted to say what is written in the holy bible about this topic. I will keep you all in my prayers, and I pray we will meet in heaven because of the GRACE Jesus offers us. Im out of here, peace and love<3

James appears to disagree. In Acts 15:19-21 he says,
Wherefore my sentence is, (my command) that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

So circumcision is a sin?

I strongly disagree. Jesus himself says
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
First, you need to ask yourself, What does, "It is written" mean? Jesus is directly referencing Deuteronomy 8:3
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
I'll wager your Sunday school teacher never taught you that one.

Back to Jesus again.
Matthew 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
You might say that Jesus' death was the fulfillment of the law, but you would not be able to so easily explain, "Till heaven and earth pass."
All being fulfilled would also require for Jesus to have returned as He said He will in the Book of Matthew as well.

Keep reading in Luke 6. This is a warning against hypocritical judgment. It is the same sentiment echoed in Matthew 7.
41And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
42Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

And you will be in my prayers as well.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Well if you actually read your Bible you would understand this better.

The covenant was made with Abraham, not Moses. Also, you may want to read the entire book of Romans which makes a distinction between the circumcised (Jews) and the uncircumcised(gentiles).
Romans 2:25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Romans 2:29 states that it is more important to be circumcised of the heart rather than of the body.
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
And 1 Corinthians 7:18 basically tells men that if they are circumcised not to change that, and if they are uncircumcised not to become circumcised.
Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
Quote:
|
Okay, I'll admit that some of the laws have been rescinded. Circumcision was one, the food laws were another.
Quote:
Jesus came to set us free from the binds of law, He came to offer us salvation, and it is all because of HIS GRACE, not by our actions (Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God")
I think this clearly shows that no matter how "holy" we are, we all are just hypocrites in His eyes unless we confess our sinful nature and ask for His forgiveness.
|
So all that stuff Jesus said about "go and sin no more", that's just bunk? We should just white out those parts of the Bible? Oh and where does the Bible say that all of the laws were rescinded? Because my Bible tells me that the OT laws are still in effect except for just a couple of them.
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Quote:
So is it wrong to tattoo your skin, this is a question between you and God, pray God for wisdom and ask for His spirit to guide you. (Galatians 5:18 "But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.")
|
So basically, you just decide what you want to do and then say that Jesus say's it's okay. Why even pretend that you're a Christian then? Why not just call yourself an atheist and do whatever you want without having to pretend that you're following the Bible?
Quote:
So it is through CHRIST how we get to heaven, not by following the LAW.
Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by OBSERVING THE LAW; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
|
Funny, Jesus said differently
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Quote:
And the last thing I want to say, Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
May His peace be with you, I'll keep you all in my prayers.
|
So we will be Judged as we Judge, so if we Judge according to the word of the Bible, rather than whatever we made up in our heads, we will be Judged by the word of God. I'm failing to see why we can't judge here, especially when we are told to judge according to the Holy Word.
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
1st Corinthians 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
2nd Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

GOD intended circumcision to be a sign of the covenant between Him and the Jews.
It was a very beautiful way to represent the healthy relationship GOD has always had with His creations, but excising flesh from your genitals has nothing to do with injecting ink into your skin to form an image, a practice GOD abhors.
False Christians attempt to justify tattoos of JESUS or anything else by reading only the bit BEFORE to comma in Leviticus 19:28:
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
As long as it has nothing to do with remembering the dead, they reason, it will be okay. WRONG. Even if the tattoo is of JESUS, He was technically dead for three days and therefore it is still a violation of the first AND second halves of this verse.
And then GOD says "I am the LORD," because He is.

Leviticus 19:28:
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead,
nor
print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
That means you can do neither of these two things: make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, OR, print any marks upon you.
That means you are not to print any marks upon you. It makes no difference whether or not they are for the dead, but you can't do that either.
Can we all read now?

I don't know how to express the deep sadness and anger I have after reading the first couple pages of this post. So many of you believe you have the complete understanding of what Jesus Christ and God would want...yet you clearly don't have an understanding of what you're talking about. And please don't think I'm someone just getting on this to discredit anything you're working towards, but I honestly have tears in my eyes just hoping you will one day truly understand. I see many of you saying, "he will be damned/go to hell" for putting a tattoo on his BODY, which shows what you are solely focused on. THE MATERIAL. Jesus' entire teaching was meant to DETACH you from the material world. Why the piffle are so many of you ignorant and blind to this. Saying "when he dies he will surely go to hell". CAN YOU THINK!!! At this moment...if you truly analyze it with the beautiful mind God has blessed you with. You will realize that there is no past, there is no future, there is only the NOW. Therefor, heaven and hell do not exist AFTER you leave THIS material realm, they exist in the HERE AND NOW. You can either make this a living hell (focused solely on the MATERIAL aspects of life, claiming you know what God or Jesus would want someone to do)...or you can rise above the material, understanding that God is currently in the background of all your fruitless thoughts and actions, and learn to listen to what He is saying, which will bring you to a heaven right here and now. Everything in the Bible, I believe, is a metaphor for your life ON EARTH. Not after. So basically, SHUT THE piffle UP talking about someone marking their FLESH. FOCUSING ON THE FLESH IS WHAT WILL PUT YOU IN HELL! There are only two emotions in life; FEAR and LOVE. Judging someone is an attribute of FEAR. And if you think im just talking shit, why dont I let Jesus conclude everything I've been saying: "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, YOUR BODY IS DEAD because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
12Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the BODY, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. -GOODNIGHT ALL YOU FALSE PROPHETS

Well hello,
Do you know what really annoys me? People who go out of their way to flout the rules of a forum, by NOT posting an introduction in the INTRODUCTION FORUM.
Also, it is more than apparent that you are one of these "new age" cherry-picking faux believers in God following a FALSE interpretation of His word.
