They are a money making machine with massive investments in the anti-depressant pharmaceuticals industry as well as in the bandage business.

In what way did that say that i promote mental illness in children? if anyone promotes it, they are sick, sick people. And people have mental illnesses because of specific problems going on in their lives, i highly doubt that politics have anything to do with it, especially in children who more than likely have no idea what is going on in the political world.

Well no, that's not what i was getting at. But if you asked a fan of this band about the reasons they enjoy their music, you might have a different opinion. I wish you could talk to my niece and see that not all of their fans are emotionally unstable, some of them just like the music.

But there are few people out there who dont sing songs like this, or wear black clothing and eyeliner, or straighten their hair to be cool- they do it because they want to, and if you want to do something, do it!

oh, honey im so sorry you are so misled. music that makes people bouce around and laugh isnt sending negitivity waves. also, some guy said UNSAVED= UNWELCOME um, doesnt the bible say to try and spread the word of christ? to try to be christlike, as far as i can recall christ was pretty much pure Love. you know, that thing where you reach out a helping hand to those unfortunate enough to not have asked christ into their hearts and lives?

for the record this kid does not speak for people who listen to my chemical romance, i do that and im active in my church, my community, and i work with children in a high risk area keeping them off of the streets by running an afterschool program. this child needs to reach out for help with their depression and talk about their problems rather than self- harm anyone with half a brain can see that.

I realize you all mean very well for these kids, but i think you are looking at it the wrong way.
First of all, unless you actually had known this girl in real life, or know her family, you really don't have the right to jump to conclusions and i would believe that this would seem offensive to the girl's family.
she could have had clinical depression or some sort of mental illness, she could have been bullied or had problems at home that lead to her sadly ending her life.
I highly doubt that a band had much to do with it, sure they are classed as "emo" but i know alot of people who listen to My Chemical Romance and are cheery.
Also, someone mentioned their concept album. Most of the lyrics you have been worrying about are from this bands 'concept album' which i believe is a real, sort of story. If someone was to get so involved with this band to the extent of hearing subliminal messages, surely they would have known that it was a concept album, that they were just making it up for a story.
The band really aren't that bad, not my taste, but i don't think that they would lead teenagers to kill themselves, as far as i've heard they are 'anti-suicide'.

well actualy her parents started the MCR rumor when they came under investigation by the poliece for child abuse because her mother told her it was okay to kill herself during a fight a couple weeks before her suicide.
you are right the lyrics mentioned are from their concept album "the black parade" which ends with the words- "i am not afraid to keep on living i am not afraid to walk this world alone honey if you stay you'll be forgiven -nothing you can say can stop me going home"
MCR is anti suicide because two of its founding members have strugled with the idea of ending their own lives and gotten through it with the help of their music. i have known teens who felt that without my chemical romance's music and how it made them think twice, they would not be alive today.
their music isnt for everyone. but it is a help to those who actualy open their ears to music more readily than they do to parents or teachers.

'Emo' is simply a stereotype for people who dress more different then the rest. It's nothing more. People who cut themselves shouldn't be called 'emo', people who cut themselves have a serious mental issue that needs to be treated.

This crap is the exact reason why I don't follow any strict religion.
