Perhaps the player-editable ones are better overall but more important is the underlying message. A very high percentage carry and reinforce world views wholly antithetical to Christ. They run as undercurrents whatever will advance Satan's agenda. These games encourage activities condemned by God, when not playing the game and out meeting new people in social settings, so that the people one is drawn to share wicked proclivities they'd like you to engage in later. It is so important for your Pastor to evaluate any game you're considering before purchase – or a senior family member.
