WARNING
France
Recently I received some winceyette fabric samples from France, nice and lively with bright stripes suitable for night attire, I had thought. Winceyette has a raised nap on both sides and is very comfortable. But included with the material was a sewing pattern. Now running up your own pattern on the machine is quite safe as we all know, however be alert: the French are demon possessed when it comes to "fashion" and it would be a disaster for anyone to make garments cut like this one. Here is tha fabric sample, as you can see it's quite appealing and 100% cotton.
I was soon to be utterly revolted. Fortunately I don't normally work from patterns preferring to use a tape measure and adjust the cut according to individual request since very few people are proportioned according to the fashion designer's rather distorted ideas of how we should look. French designers in particular. As these new, vibrant fabrics are sent out I must caution the budding seamstress from just following the included pattern, quite seriously if you wear this stuff you'll be out hunting snails before you can say Jack Robinson.
WHO DO THEY THINK THEY'RE KIDDING?
Look at the footwear, is she really going to bed dressed like that? Of course not!
And I noticed that the pigments they've developed fluoresce under a variety of street lighting to my utter disgust, which is why I'm warning anyone considering winceyette to be very wary of the latest French fabrics and especially the patterns so sneakily included. No Christian would ever wear such garments and my recommendation is to just burn them unopened. The actual fabric however should be suitable for your usual pattern. Sewing is a great way to save money for tithing and of course everything always fits so much better.
I hope my warning is not too late.
