Notes Regarding Sr. Delavega -
12-03-2006, 11:42 AM
Para ésos perdió en el mar de Castro
For those lost in Castro's sea
la fragata "José Martí "
—the frigate
plies deep Cuban waters.
Mortal waves—
so rare to see
such thick hair on a gentleman
three years passing seventy.
Today he trims the hair
of this Yanqui former sailor
writing from his barber chair.
Señor Delavega here, and there:
the 1952 Batista era
peluquero marina
navy barber enlisted to
el José Martí for tres años.
His mates, how many leagues since then?
Toward their destinations? Floated?
¿Y el metal Martí?
Sunken oxides; not much more
than synaptic currents
perhaps propelling el Sr.
to recourse old patterns—
as he cuts my hair
and keeps his thoughts
attendant to the ones he served.

Don't celebrate until Raul announces the 'official' date. That is how conspiracy stories begin.
La Fragata.....I liked it.

I have heard of Butch Wax....Godly stuff, but pink. Is that why Castro used it?
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:

I see it's still made under different ownership.
http://www.slickville.com/sections/d..._crubutch.html
Have a mental picture of a push-tube version of Butch Wax.
Pictures from such a long time ago tend to be distorted.
These cited Butch Wax containers are screw capped jars.
"use Dawn diswashing soap or similar to remove"---funny, true.
It must be mostly candle wax with some vegetable oil as a softener.
Somewhere I have an empty bottle of a period-lampoon "greasy kid stuff" hair dressing.
A joke thing from the fifties, I am sure--the address has the old zone number instead of the zip codes we've used since '64.
Nice find, Zeke. Your do does well with Butch Wax.

addendum: I found the old bottle. It's pre-1965, we can say that much.
Here 'tis:
That white creme on the cap is just Go-Jo; had to clean the bottle up purty.

I'll have you know that I do NOT use Butch Wax in my hair. I use a different, more unique product. I don't know the name offhand...One of my nigra servants found it for me. It smells odd at first, but it dries quickly and keeps my hair stiff the way I like it. Cum to think of it, the bottle doesn't have a label on it....I'll have to ask her what its called. Pretty expensive stuff, I can tell you. I gotta look nice on my dates with Sister Thumper.

Yes, I knew "Butch Wax" - as Godly a Brother who ever stuck his probiscus into the air, with a buzzcut almost as Manly as Pastor Al's.
He told me never to tell, and like Jesus the Christ, I always Keep my Promises.
But now that he's Dead, how's it going to bother anyone if I give him a mention?

I'm all for guessing,
was he
Fidel?
Well?
Was he not Al? Before he fall?
(Our Al rerose, re-scent like Him)
And if not Al, and not Fidel,
well!
Was he Captain Kangaroo?
Or Moishe Pipik, mousey jew?
Stiff and pink and stand-up manly...
for pretty sure
he warn't named "Stanley".
Could be Ollie though. I know
you like Pillsbury and sugared dough.
Well? Sister,
if I didn't guess Vera close
at least I've 'magined you
out of clothes.
Dreams,
they sometimes are rich things,
though mine can't offer twin gold rings.
Never you mind
and always know

Isn't Butch Wax what many of our Catholic Nuns do before a week off at the beach?
Fidel isn't dead e's just sleeping
This Presisdent is dead I tell you, dead!
No, e's just restin'
Indeed not, he is dead. Stone cold dead.
Remarkable man Fidel, idn't ay?
And he is dead, deceased, not of the living!
Ow no, 'e's just stunned, like Pastor Al.
Bless you, my easily misguided sycophants

Ode to a huckster
Il Presidente has purchased the farm
Or at least we are told this by Pistle
That for all of his quaint Latin charm
Fidel's blown his last servant whistle
In Miami they'll dance in the street
Should this news and their ears ever meet
But methinks it's a lie
Told by the big guy
From his getaway island retreat
For Al puts the dupe in duplicious
While his flock, not too bright, ain't suspicious
They lap up his spew
'cause between them there's few
Enough braincells to tell fact from wishes.
Bless you, my future RICO defendants
Father Mo
A Cardinal in the making.

Disregarding the content,
I remind (myself too) to -recite every doggerel verse in advance of posting-
because it's likely to be needlessly rough. Plus, comic points are lost.
See the "E", for instance
Il Presidente has purchased the farm
--so we are told by an early E Pistle,
that for all of his overblown Latinate charm,
Fidel's gone and blown his wax moustasche whistle.
In Miami they'll rhumba a beat in the street
when the news and the air and their tympanums meet.
But methinks it is yet just another lie
run up a greased pole by the dictator guy
from his getaway island retreat.
Yes, Al puts the dope into duplicious
to his flock of the shorn Baptist lambs un suspicious.
They bleat for his spew
for between them there are few
brains divining his fishhooks from fishes.
------------------
Oh, of course the final proposed line does not tie in to anything, I know.
But it makes more sense than all that (arrgh!)
incomprehensible disrespect against OUR PASTOR.
All thanks to your poem, Father.
Jesus weeps.

Proving moreover, just how bad -my edits are- when not revised many times over time,
here's another try, Father.
It won't be right, but it'll be better.
And it's just one way of thousands by which you
can continue to p.o. our chief pastor and live, although I don't know how the hell you getawaywithit.
Father Mo's poem, slightly less awful, or not:
Il Presidente has purchased the farm;
so we are told by an early E Pistle,
that despite his overblown Latinate charm
Fidel has tooted his last wax lips whistle.
In Miami they'll rhumba
a beat in the street
when the news and the air
and their tympanums meet.
Now I think
it's all just another lie
run up a greased pole by the dictator guy
from his getaway Freehold retreat.
Yes,
Al plants legal dope in duplicious
for his flock of shorn lambs unsuspicious.
They bleat for his stew
for between them there are few
brains divining his crocks from knishes.*
*again, a nonsequitur--in keeping with the entire tommyrot.
Op Ed:
Mein Gott, Father! How can you descend so low into woofy verses?
Are you trying to emulate me? In one sense, that'd be an improvement;
you would no longer be kissing the pope's 6666ring.
Cheers Father.
Your salvation's in sight when you redress and defrock for Jesus
and apologize for dishonoring our AL!!!!

Pastor Zeke, this poet stuff is causing father Mo to lose control.
Calling Pastor Pistle a dope dealer is too much indeed!
Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Pater 'Mo sure is calling Pastor Al a pusher.
In re-editing his (sic) poem that message of Mo's becomes clearer and clearer.
Edit no.3
Ode to a Huckster
by Father Maurice Lester,
disingenuous DVM
El Jefe' has purchased the farm,
or so it is said by an early E Pistle,
that despite Fidel's overblown Latinate charm,
he has has tooted his last wax lip whistle.
In Miami they'll rhumba
a beat in the street
when the news and the air
and their tympanums meet.

run up a greased pole by that dictator guy
from his getaway Freehold retreat.
Yes,
Al is the dope in duplicious
to his flock of shorn lambs, unsuspicious.
They bleat for his crap
between their sheep naps.
Al loads their pipe dreams with crack wishes.
Mo I am dismayed.
