  • We've Got to Stop This Cremation Fad

I read everyday about the growing practice of burning up our sacred bodies. It's call cremation. We need our bodies in tact so others can identify us in heaven.

Apart from this theological issue, there is a practical fiscal issue. Compare these two hypothetical sequences. In one, the body remains with the undertaker. The undertaker is practiced at working with the church and making arrangements for a funeral. The funeral requires our preachers and use of the church building. The church serves a meal. Money changes hands for all of this.

In the other, ashes are handed over directly to the family. The undertaker is out of the picture. The pipeline between the undertaker and our church is severed. Hippy families spread the ashes on the dead person's garden. People make jewelry out of Grandpa. How does Landover Baptist Church benefit from that?

I've told the Iowa Cremation Society to stop mailing into Freehold. I want them out of Iowa.

Iowa Cremation provides simple, dignified and affordable cremation services to all of Iowa with exclusive benefits unmatched by other providers.

Cremation is what happens to animals (see steak and pork chops.) Cremation encourages people to go around scattering ashes all over the country in some weird believe that the ashes will somehow become animated and appreciate the view.

Cremation is a blow against God: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar, for failing to worship him. It is a historical fact that the three were then seen walking about in the furnace with Jesus! See Daniel 3.

Da:3:24: Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellers, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Da:3:25: He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

You have proof of Jesus right there!

However, I hear you say, "Bathfire! Surely, I should go for cremation and walk around with Jesus at the local furnace."

And my reply is "You mormon!
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were alive when they were thrown in (and came out) but you will be dead and your body consumed to ashes - as Mayor Hold points out, this will be embarrassing come the general Resurrection."

Cremation is the government's favorite method of covering up their Death Squads against the Elderly and Retired who give more money to the church than to the taxman. It's gotten so bad that the elderly have to document their wishes on their own skin, risking the very Wrath of God in order to preserve their bodies after death.

Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

I tell you they sell the dead bodies to China. They give you some random ashe and the real body they sell to China. So they can take their organs. Their eyes and ears and everything. And people pay for dead bodies to have sex with them especially Goths. Gothics are very very bad people and they like to have sex with dead bodies.
And these cremation facories they sell these bodies. It's true.

The Bible even says burning your body is wrong!

          Ecclesiastic 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

This is why we should be buried under the ground and not cremated.

Some of you may recall that my dear husband Matthew had a great deal of trouble a couple of years back over his step-relations' wish to cremate his stepmother's late mother, known to you all as Mrs Hun.

Although she was, of course, no blood relative of ours, Matthew felt compelled to intervene in the Name of Jesus. At the time, we found Dr Pendergast's fine dissertation on the matter extremely helpful, and I would strongly recommend it.

Thank you for reminding us of that personal story, Sister Joanna. I don't where people get the idea that if they have been obedient in life their Christian duty is done. An even more important time for their relationship with Jesus is after they are dead.

Full body burial is a win win. It keeps the deceased in a good relationship with God and it maintains the funeral ritual. We need the latter to financial LBC business.

Yes but than the family looses money+the payment of the undertaker, it's just not worth it. As for the theological issue, if you're argument is that it will prevent us from rising up on judgment day, it sounds like you're doubting the power of God. He made the earth, i don't think rebuilding a few billion corpses would be a problem.

We are used to public school men coming here who use "your" in place of "you're", but it is unusual to see it the other way around. You will find the proper location for your introduction in the forum conveniently labeled "introduction forum"'. Go there and follow the directions. Also, do not presume to attempt to correct your betters. You are off to a bad start, friend. Do try to be more respectful.

He also used "than" for "then", "looses" for "loses" and forgot to capitalize the word, "I". The worst part, however, was the inclusion of "i don't think" in his attempt to speak on behalf of God, Himself.

The only person allowed to speak on behalf of God is Jesus, and that is because Jesus is God. The Bible could be said to speak on behalf of God, but because the Bible is God's Word, it's really more like God just speaking, rather than having a book speak on His behalf. That makes sense, doesn't it?

Isn't this just like the selfish views of fake Christians who show up here?

Tableleg, it's not about the family! It's about God and eternity. The path to God and eternity is Landover Baptist Church. This church and its pastors are the gateway to both.

Full body funerals in our Church are an absolute necessity. They provide a full scholarship to heaven and help LBC fund its important work.

I suggest you do some research before posting such nonsense.

When u think about it cremation has a very dark past and should be illegal. First the cathlics who cremated people alive and seconds the vikings who build small ships to set them on fire with the corpse in it.

Re: We've Got to Stop This Cremation Fad

Cremation has always been looked upon with horror by every sector of Jewish thought. The body is sacred, because it is the "temple of the soul" and because it is the medium by which we do goodness in this world.
Belief in the resurrection of the dead is counted by Maimonides as the thirteenth of the Thirteen Principles of the Faith. There is no rabbinic authority who does not consider this to be a fundamental belief. The Mishnah declares denial of this principle to be heresy. The reason is quite apparent: As Jews, we believe there is purpose to life, purpose to this world, purpose to the act of Creation. Therefore, anything that is used towards that purpose has a permanence -- and a sanctity.
Six million of our people were denied proper burial, most of them cremated. Should we willfully continue that which our enemies began?
The sad thing is that as recently as four years ago, many Jews were opting for cremation to the chagrin of Rabbis and devout family. Part of the reason - and this is understandable - is cost. My own relative, Amos Hezekiah, gave thought to destroying his temple but revoked this request two weeks before his passing. He waits in the grave for Meshiach.
I noted that many of the funeral homes in Iowa offer exceptionally low prices for cremation and exorbitant ones for normal funerals. This is becoming more common as secular society teaches that this body is of no worth for other than sexual pleasure and hedonistic pursuits.
May G_d send Meshiach soon, so that our world may be at peace.
A half truth is a whole lie.

He's been and gone, Jew, but we expect Him back directly. I doubt you would find yourself in line for the rapture though and you won't be finding that peace you crave either. That honor is reserved for Christians. A smart Jew lawyer like yourself ought to be able to see that salvation is only available for those who accept Jesus. Why don't you get smart and come on over to the winning team?

If I'm following your reasoning, then that end would somehow interfere with their being resurrected?

Why would your God allow such power to humans over not only the temporal fate of His "Chosen People", but over their final fates?
