It was obviously just being used as an example. It could just as easily be big foot or some other creature I could think of off the top of my head. Also, just because it isn't mentioned in the bible doesn't mean it can't be true. Does the bible say anything about atoms, molecules, electrons, neutrons, protons, supernovae, black holes, etc?
