The pain of menstruation is the same as the pain of childbirth given to us to remind us of how Eve got us all kicked out of paradise. You need to suffer without pills and realize the pain is there for your salvation.
As for hygiene, neoprene and stainless steel are easily washable. One only need to purchase two belts for convenience and protection while one is being cleaned.
