  • how i recently came to jesus please read to the end :-)

    hello
I am an ex-Hindu I do not want to say my name as if my father finds out about me going to this site he would surely take away my computer(and maybe worse as he hates me as I am adopted and unlike him I am white making that fact obvious ). here I am going to go over the experience that made me realize that Hinduism was a false religion and the only true way to be saved is through Jesus. firstly to understand this story you have to understand what I enjoy one of my main hobbies as a child was swimming when my swimming club closed I still wanted a similar experience so I decided to start snorkeling. this since has become an activity that I enjoy and even teach if the teach is not there. this also lead to a hobby that I enjoy even more, scuba diving.
this is where my story begins after learning to dive for a couple of years with a diving organization called BSAC (the British Sub Aqua club). I was doing a qualification called the open water diver this qualification would allow me to go diving without an instructor as long as I was with another person of the same or higher qualification.and even lead dives. just over halfway through the dive when my BCD (buoyancy control device) started filling with air uncontrollably this was a frightening experience for me as I knew that if I came up too fast I would get the bends. I watched as my Christian friend stayed still perfectly fine when he realized what was happening he quickly grabbed me with one hand and a rock with the other after he pulled me down. after this he looked at my gear he simply pressed the button I let air out with (which I had been doing multiple times whilst down)and just like that my kit was fixed the strange part being that when I got to the surface their was nothing wrong with my gear
after this experience I started questioning my faith after finding out he was a Christian I realized that by worshiping many gods I was angering god and then realized that I would burn in hell if I did not accept Jesus as my lord and savior
due to living in England there are not many churches in my area and even if there was my dad would be very mad if I attended one.
after realizing that I started looking for places with other Christians and found this place
I would like to use this forum to learn more about god and to ask questions if they arise

hopefully a moderator will see this and let me post in other threads so that I can ask questions

Hello and a very cautious to our friendly forum, dear!

I am confused to why there are no churches in your area of England?

Also, if you really want to be a Christian you need to read and obey the Holy Bible. If you cannot obtain a printed copy you can read it online here.

Also, yes you can post anywhere you wish - you just can't create new threads until the Department of Faith finishes a thorough background check.
God created fossils to test our faith.

      Hello Thed,

Thank you for the elaborate introduction. The introduction forum is the only forum where you can start threads, there should be no problem for you posting reactions in other threads on this forum.

      Kind regards,

      Roland

Ps. If your BCD is inflating too much you might want to stop pushing the button on your inflator, should that not be the issue, just disconnect the air supply from your bottle to your inflator. It should be a simple push and release connection.
Jeremiah 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

Best wishes for the people in Ukraine.

          Greetings, and welcome.

As you explore our forums, you will learn many things. You will learn how to avoid eternal damnation by diving head first into the loving arms of Jesus and giving yourself and your scuba gear completely to Him. You will learn how to completely immerse yourself in the Word of God, as Sister Basilissa has directed you.

You may also learn how to use things like punctuation and capital letters, which will make it possible for people like me who are taking time away from our Bible study, church services, and hourly visits to our prayer closets to help people like you understand what you are saying without having to read it several times.

          Humbly,

Hello Thedi and welcome to the forums.

I am in England too - if you let us know what town you are in then I, or one of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may be able to help with the problem of finding a proper church near you. Our Department of Faith has contacts all over the world.

My boys are also keen swimmers and the three eldest (12, 10 and 10) have their PADI Junior certificates. But all of them, except the babies obviously, are out most days with their snorkels, masks and spearguns, helping the coastguard to keep our waters clear of filthy migrants and the (even filthier) French.

              Methodist
And it really is a problem. Naturally a Church of England, or any Catholic pantheon, would be out of the question but although in pre-communist England there were other Churches now so many have transformed into citadels of Satan.

From Time Out: Attending [this venue] was as revelatory an experience as you could get…Thousands of sweaty ravers descended on the former Methodist church, filling the enormous main room with a very different kind of evangelical atmosphere to that found here during its previous incarnation. It was still a place of worship, albeit at the altar of rave. All of the biggest names in techno came to pummel the crowd into a wooping, delirious mess

              Presbyterian
The Presbyterians, also having had a conservative reputation, sold out too. The joint shown (LEFT) was converted to the great debauch years ago and now offers Hanky Panky on Mondays which is just such a travesty.

So it may well be difficult to locate an actual Church in Godless England. In nearby Sheffield there were similar carryings-on at their 9 o'clock service dressed us as "communion" from a recent summary:

[The Nine O'clock Service] offered a vision that challenged the complacency of culture, and worship that appealed to the aesthetic tastes of youth. By 1988 there were 400 members, and the following year, Rt Revd David Lunn, the Bishop of Sheffield, confirmed almost 100 young people at a special NOS service. The hierarchy of the Church of England was forced to take note of NOS as an innovative and highly successful initiative in youth evangelism.

In the early 1990s, there was a marked shift in the theology of NOS, from Wimber and the Vineyard tradition to the creation spirituality of Matthew Fox. Around the same time, the community moved from St Thomas’s to hold their services in the underground rotunda at the Ponds Forge Leisure Centre in the centre of Sheffield, becoming the first Anglican Extra-Parochial parish. It was in this vast arena that NOS held its weekly Planetary Mass, an alternative celebration of Holy Communion. The Planetary Mass used images inspired by the environmental crisis and echoed Fox’s attacks on sexism, patriarchy, and ecological apathy, while calling for a renewed mysticism in a post-modern church. Some church leaders expressed concern that NOS was verging on the boundaries of Neo-paganism and the ‘New Age Movement’. Controversy also surrounded the group’s Passion in Global Chaos set, performed at the Green-belt festival in 1992, particularly its use of erotic lyrics and bikini-clad dancers. The NOS leadership explained this as a ‘post-modern’ attempt to engage with the intuitive and sexual alongside rational media.

Fortunately, Sister, for every problem, Jesus provides us with a solution! In this case, He has inspired the Baptist Union to provide a useful online search facility. Here it is:

For example, in my own small corner of south-east England there are five Baptist churches within 5 miles of our property. A couple of them are perhaps a little shonky, as I believe you say in your part of the world - the congregations are not exactly the sort of people you would want to sit next to, even if you had your purse firmly secured. But a single Sunday is enough to establish this.

My suspicion is that many people who claim they can't find a church in England are simply not trying. Matthew 7:7.

Your punctuation suggests a degree of surprise.

If you zoom in, you will notice that Scotland and Ireland are particularly Godless. However, do not be deceived by the apparent concentration of decent folk in the South Walean area. Far from being King James Only adherents, many of them conduct their services in a vowel-free foreign language - as we discovered to our cost!

But this is not the place to go into details of that particular mistake. I just wanted to encourage our ex-hindoo sub-aquatic friend in his ceaseless search for a Real Church.

Hello Diver, you are apparently still living with your father, yet you say he does not know you're a Christian? What happens when it's Hindu prayer time in your home? Doesn't he find it odd that you're no longer participating?

                      Unless...

PLEASE tell me you're not still saying Hindu prayers or doing Hindu rituals!
