HIV is transmitted through bodily fluids. While present in saliva, there isn't enough of it to contract the virus. It would take a few gallons of saliva in order to reasonably transmit the infection. Blood and semen, however, do spread the infection. HIV/AIDS cannot only come from gay sex. That would imply that the female sex has some sort of magical protection from bodily fluids, and it would mean that women do not suffer from HIV/AIDS. They do. That is why children can be born with HIV, as is happening at an alarming rate in Africa. In addition, blood transfusions are not gay sex, yet HIV has been rarely contracted through infected blood donation.
