The people at Baylor amaze me, and not in good way. How can they claim the mantle of Christ's authority and ignore the verses upon verses in both testaments that clarify woman's place as the helper of man and not his leader? How can they gloss over the myriad of verses proclaiming God's immutability and the need to follow His every command?
Sister Mary is right on the money with her assertion that Jesus didn't come to be "relevant". And the idea that Christian institutions need to change to be "relevant" to the world today is absurd.
Has God in some way become irrelevant? Is not the world His Own creation? Did He provide us with the Bible to offer us guidance until we got into the swing of running the world so that He could then retire?
If God's Word needs to be updated to become relevant, then perhaps, we should update our need for the sun and the rain to make food grow out of the earth. If we don't need God to provide for us in that way, perhaps we don't need Him to provide us with Salvation.
These people don't realize what a slippery slope they are on as the rework stated Biblical commands to suit their modern perspective.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.
