I think that we need a little context with this. I have not seen such a thing before and I do spend a lot of time going through the pages of articles that bring one nearer to intense spiritual joy.
However, kissing is a complex matter.
The child’s father could be near to death:
Ge:27:26: And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.
Or he might have a Golden Calf in his workshop
Ho:13:2: And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
Or he could be an informer for the atheists or catholics:
M't:26:48: Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
But it is equally possible that he simply hopes to improve his technique when it comes to greeting fellow Christians
1Pe:5:14: Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
We have all had that handshake that feels like a dead catfish being placed in your palm from someone with a weak grim and an unhealthy complexion.
If you are going to go about following Peter’s word, then it makes sense to practice.
Oh, wait... as I look closer, I see the lips are apart… well, perhaps it’s one of those things “Made in China” they never seem to get things quite right… Perhaps Landover should be producing these things, but with closed lips.
I’m sure they’d sell well – there’s obviously a market.
