    First Time in History, Southern Baptists Choose a Nego President

    When is this parade of new ideas going to stop.

    The Southern Baptist Convention was a leader in both slavery and segregation. During the time of those policies, the United States grew and prospered.

    Then came the 1950's and civil rights. Civil rights affected mostly the Northeast of the U. S., the South remained as it always had. There was a little integration but mostly people of different races kept to themselves, as the Bible commanded.

    During this period when the South clung to segregation, it prospered. The huge cities like Atlanta and Houston came into being while the liberal Northeast floundered.

    Now, the last place you would expect to see integration in full bloom, the Southern Baptist Convention, we have this new President. He is not a white man.

    Goodby to the prosperous South. You will not rise again.

      How incredible is the concept that with free labor, the south prospered. Just goes to show you that White guys are not meant for hard labor.

        This just makes me sick. I know the SBC spends it's time pissing in Christ's cornflakes, but to embrace a coon? Come on.

            Mark my words, within 20 years they'll have a gay president. Negroes are the gateway drug to giving nonbiblical "civil rights" to all sorts of sinners.

              Pen--I'm always amazed at how uninformed lieberals are about the principles of economics. You should read up on the topic before posting something ridiculous.

              Let's look at the facts. During the time of slavery, we exported what was known as "King Cotton". Slavery ended and, guess what?? We started importing cotton.

              Now, tell me we are better off today than we were back when slavery was legal.

              (I like what Brother Rush says, "I can defeat liberals with half my brain tied behind my back." That applies to all of us here at Landover Baptist.)

                Merciful loving Savior, it makes me sick just thinking of it. What comes after that, an Atheist SBC president? It doesn't bear thinking about.

                              I don't think the south prospered all that much beings it was the north that
                              wanted slavery in the first place, because they owned most of the
                              plantations.
                              In other words, the people with money, owned the southland, and they made
                              sure to protect their profits.
                              So the south didn't own that much of their own.
                              And, since you are talking about the Southern Baptist Convention -- if you
                              wish to see exclusivity -- just become Southern Baptist, as they are the
                              only ones going to heaven. If you are not Southern Baptist, you are not
                              a Christian.
                              And - they believe that all you have to do is have some man (pastor) dunk
                              you in a tub of water (so he can see what you look like -- wet) and you go
                              to heaven.
                              Sorry - but my God is much bigger than this little denomination.
                              I do have to admit that many will go to hell because they don't know the
                              why's wherefores or have any belief that God did something for Them.
