Ray Comfort Embraces Evolution
1 Attachment(s)
I never thought I’d see the day when creationist crusader Ray Comfort embraced evolution – and on a timescale not even the most optimistic evolutionist would accept. I was deeply disappointed when I read the following post on his Facebook page.
Quote:
According to Ray, domesticated cats and great cats are descended from a pair of felines that went aboard the Ark. We know Noah’s Flood happened around 2500 BC. Lions were around in Jacob’s time (Gen 49:9), about 1900 BC, so if Ray’s theory is true, it took only 600 years for lions to evolve from the original feline pair. Leopards had become a distinct species by Jeremiah’s time (Jer 13:23), about 600 BC, so following the same reasoning, it took leopards 1900 years at most to evolve from the original feline pair. The problem with this is that not even evolutionists would accept this much evolution on such a short timescale. According to evolutionists, it took 10-15 million years for all species of cat we have today to evolve from the original felid. If Ray’s claim were true, we should be able to see evolution happening before our very eyes. We also know that information cannot be added to the genome. The original felines must have contained all the genetic information necessary to produce all traits in all species of cat. So what did the original felines look like? Were they spotted like leopards? Striped like tigers? Tan like lions? Black like pumas? Did they have sabre teeth? Did they have manes? Were they fast like cheetahs? Creation scientists tell us that change can only occur through the loss of genetic information. So did pumas evolve because they lost the genes for spots and stripes? Did cheetahs evolve because they lost the genes that were slowing the other species of cat down? And why don’t we see any evidence of this evolution in the fossil record? Where are the missing links? Show me a catger! Ray makes a big deal about kinds in his video Evolution vs God. He claims that variation within a kind is microevolution, but there is nothing micro about the evolution of lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, pumas, jaguars, wildcats and domesticated cats from a single pair of felines. In order to make the Flood account seem more credible to unbelievers, Ray embraces evolution on steroids. We may never know why God told Noah to build the Ark too small to fit all the animals, but we do know God is all-powerful (Rev 19:6). Nothing is impossible for Him. Surely, if He wanted all the animals to fit, He would have found a way to make them fit. When people try to demythologise Scripture, they minimise God’s power and glory. |
Re: Ray Comfort Embraces Evolution
Dr. Pim, this is truly a timely post. My children brought up at the dinner table last night the logistics of fitting all of the animals on the Ark, how to feed them, where all of the poop goes, fresh water, etc. I said it's all explained right there in Genesis chapters 6 through 9, so why don't you guys go read those chapters after we eat.
They came back a little while later and they had the same concerns: not enough room, drinking water, ventilation, etc. So I said, hey, go back and re-read Genesis chapters 6 through 9, it is all covered in there. So they came back a little while later and I asked them does it make sense now? And they all said it does! :praise: If people would just READ the Bible, the true nature of God will become clear to them. :innocent: YiC, Zech |
Re: Ray Comfort Embraces Evolution
I've never really understood why anyone takes much notice of Ray Comfort, who is, let's face it, a Joo from Godless New Zilland.
He is just plain wrong about the species business, obviously. But he's right about the size of the ark. The Dutch creationist Johan Huibers went to the trouble of building a full-sized replica, according to God's instructions as set out in the KJV, which shows exactly how all the animals would fit. It took him 20 years, but in the end he got there. "If you have faith, anything is possible," he said. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Dordrecht.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ordrecht_3.jpg |

But Ray Comfort and his neo-evolutionist crowd better watch out. Like with the Romans Christ always gets the last laugh, it might take Jesus over three hundred years but He wins in the end. |
Re: Ray Comfort Embraces Evolution
My sons have asked about the logistics as well, and after a sharp cuff to the back of the head for questioning God, I simply tell them that spacetime is God's plaything. God could put the universe in a grain of sand if it pleases Him. I tell my boys, read it, believe it and move on.
I know God brought two of every kind (seven for the clean beasts) and suspended the problem of interbreeding for Noah's family and the animals, miraculously dispersed them as needed after the flood, etc. To all those doubters and over-thinkers out there, I always say: Quote:

Re: Ray Comfort Embraces Evolution
I love brother Ray, but I can't sign on to his unbiblical account of the Flood. The Genesis account is clear on this point: God created every living creature before the flood:
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:21I'm not saying that I know how God achieved this miracle, but the most logical explanation is that God set up an in-vitro fertilization facility on the Ark, and that most of the animals on the Ark were stored as frozen embryos. Then Noah revived them two by two and released them. Of course, some of them Noah probably put on smaller boats so they could reach Australia, the Americas, various islands, etc. |

You're not far off the truth™ brother. True Christian™ Pastors know these things, but we are sworn to secrecy.
