New York Times agrees: Democracy stinks, Chinese rule is better!

The New York Times has an editorial called "Why China’s Political Model Is Superior" which says just what it says it says. Democracy is defined as a false religion, and like all religions, the older they are the truer they are, and the younger they are, the falser:

New York Times:
If one defines democracy as one citizen one vote, American democracy is only 92 years old. In practice it is only 47 years old, if one begins counting after the Voting Rights Act of 1965 — far more ephemeral than all but a handful of China’s dynasties.

And if one defines democracy as "anything with more freedom than China"....Well, that's too complex, let's just compare America's last 238 years to China's last 238.

Compare the flawless stability of Chinese authoritarian rule, interrupted only by minor glitches like the Cultural Revolution, Great Leap Forward, The collapse into warlord rule for half a century or so, the Boxer rebellion, the Tiaping Rebellion (20,000,000 dead), the Muslim rebellion of 1862-1877 (8,000,000 - 12,000,000 dead), the Great North China Famine/cannibal apocalypse (10,000,000 dead) plus this or that every decade, most of which didn't even kill more than a million. (EDIT: On second thought, it kind of sounds unstable, but when you factor in that the Chinese feel less pain, and value human life a lot less than us, they come out ahead.)

Meanwhile America has suffered nonstop chaos in the form of the War of Yankee Aggression, Obamacare, Monicagate, Benghazigate, Lapelpingate, Fistbumpgate, Chelsea's pimple-gate, Dandelion-on-the-WhiteHouse-lawn-gate, I could go on and on.

Now, China hasn't been completely tranquil. They did face "a vast rebellion at Tiananmen Square.
That uprising was decisively put down on June 4, 1989. The Chinese nation paid a heavy price for that violent event, but the alternatives would have been far worse."
That's an understatement! Protesters blocking traffic is bad enough in the west, where people don't all drive as badly as women, but imagine all the crashes and roadkills that must have resulted from disrupted traffic in China.

The West seems incapable of becoming less democratic even when its survival may depend on such a shift. In this sense, America today is similar to the old Soviet Union, which also viewed its political system as the ultimate end.
Got that? Obama is a commie, 9-11 changed everything, freedom isn't free. Democracy is a satanic cult. Bring back Bush and GIVE ME DICTATORSHIP OR GIVE ME DEATH!

According to Revelation 19:15, Christ will be a dictator and His kingdom will be a totalitarian state that will be raised above the bird-eaten corpses of the wicked.

"And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." Revelation 19:15 KJV.

If you like the Chinese government so much, maybe you should go there.

Sometimes it is hard to follow the nonsensical ramblings of the unsaved and chronically sinful. No one has said anything about liking the heathen Chinamen and their communist empire.

They are wicked and an abomination before the Lord. This is more proof that you are daft.

Ok then so you say that Hinduism is therefore the truest religion as it is also the oldest.

Hindoo isn't a religion, it's an excuse to smoke marihuana and lounge around in a muumuu.

A random definition copypasted and you have proof?! Oh, the vanity of the atheist! :D And such a self-contradictory text. It states that consumerism is a religion. OK, does consumerism have a defined supernatural God the consumers bow to? tell me about it and the miracles it performs! What about Buddhism that is atheist in its many forms but usually considered a religion?

Deuteronomy 32:2
They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

And, for your information, worship of the Christian God has been around for more than 6000 years since the beginning of time and the 6-day Creation. It is impossible to have an older religion as Earth and men did not exist!

Yours in Christ,

Elmer :bye:

Dear Not-So-Smart-Person:

You should try citing stuff sometimes. Plagiarizing may be fun, but giving credit is ethical.

Anyway, I will have to agree with Mr. Smyth on this one. There as many definitions of religion as there are scholars studying religions, and some scholars today argue that the whole idea of "religion" is an artificial construct built around Christianity, and therefore it fits Christianity and religions which are related to it, but not so much other belief systems.

I don't want to bore everybody with academic details, but I recommend this article:
Asad, Talal. "The construction of religion as an anthropological category." Genealogies of religion: discipline and reasons of power in Christianity and Islam (1993): 27-54.

BTW, this is what a proper citation looks like. If this text was available online, I would also provide a link, but it isn't available.

Amen. Jusdt look at how the country has fallen apart since W left office. We have Obama's new war in the Middle East, bank bailouts, the Obama depression, gays openly prancing around in the military, socialized medicine--I could go on and on. I wouldn't want Chinese dictators (you just can't trust the slants, because they're inscrutable and they all look alike), but we know we can trust George W. Bush to do the right thing as our king because he's a Bible-believing Christian. Even if he is a Methodist.

He's right. But it's not the Chinese model Christians would support. The Bible clearly expresses support for a Godly monarchy in which the ruler is the spiritual defender of the land, preserving righteousness for all the world (1 Peter 2:13)

Like Europe in the Medieval Ages except with a KJV Baptist Pope.

Don't be silly. No True Christian™ man would never wear a dress, red Prada shoes, and drive around in glorified, motorized bubble-wrap. Rather, a True Christian™ man allows the authority of God to show through his actions (Galatians 5:22-23), thus negating the idea of a separate office for the regulation of pompous parlor tricks involving smoke and mirrors and boys dressed similarly in dresses.

I agree; vain clothing is contrary to scripture. I meant a spiritual leader that would be a KJV Baptist, but one that is bound by the word of God strictly, just as how most Baptist churches have independent commissions overseeing their pastor to ensure the maintenance of Biblical authority.

I blame those small eyes. They simply cannot see what they are bumping into. God created the Chinese to build our stuff, not to drive cars.

Genesis 11:8-9
So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
