Smitten With Joy (children's palette competition)
1 Attachment(s)
Recently some drawings that would be very beneficial for the little ones were presented by Mrs. Dewitt.
Here is a palette of hues sampled from a major manufacturer of artists pencils/crayons (products from several of their ranges were included to give a good selection of shades, all of which may be purchased individually and combined into a lovely set for children). Except for the last two, which are Silver and Gold. The gold will be supplied as gold leaf (from the family mine); silver leaf will also be locally sourced. As it is rather time consuming to find Bible references for each shade of red in the set, a competition to name them with Bible references hyperlinked seemed a reasonable option, and children would be able to look for suitable verses, too! Here are a couple of examples: 1.. SHADE ref. 5, vii - Scab This is a good example because the Bible verse contains the words smite and scab. 2.. SHADE ref. 2, i - Scarlet (this one is actually called "Scarlet Lake" by the manufacturer) although the Bible verse contains the word scarlet, it does not contain the word smite, smote, smitten etc. Also, scarlet is not an affliction as such. cf. Revelation 17:4 3.. SHADE ref. 1, i - ??? The manufacturer’s name for this pigment is "Flesh Pink" and the Bible verse does contain the word flesh, but there is no smiting, no entrails, no abomination. Flesh could be improved on, as a name for this hue. Although I normally use King James Version ©1611, the verses linked (above) are from the King James Version ©1769 as they may be more familiar to children. There is probably a better solution to the hypertext, but I'll just post this now and see how the competition progresses. Any suggestions or improvements will be welcome. |

Miss Mitza,
I am certainly impressed with all your hard work.!:D I also love the fact you have so many shades and hues of REDS, which of course are very important for ALL Biblical Coloring -In pages. I will be interested to see what names people come up with. Well done indeed! Sister Phebe. |

Re: Smitten With Joy (children's palette competition)
Row 1, column ii looks like a cadaver. No reference to Cadaver in the KJV, but plenty of bodies:
Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God ) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. |

A body could be dead or alive, and might confuse children. Cadaver is the best, but I haven't seen a reference to cadavers in KJV. That doesn't mean there isn't one, but I can't find one. I'll enter your choice in the palette, just let me know: it is in your hands whatever entry you choose is fine with me. |
